SOLD! Vintage Mid Century Modern Footed Lane Cedar Chest with Two Drawers

Vintage Lane Cedar Chest with Two Drawers

Vintage Lane Cedar Chest with Two Drawers

I love this mid century modern footed Lane cedar chest with two drawers (left hand side)… I’ve never seen one quite like it before.  It comes complete with the original key and certificate of authenticity.

Note: The drawers are not cedar.

Scroll down for more pictures.

Condition:  Very good.  It was well taken care of by its previous owner, but does have some dings as shown in the picture.

Dimensions:  Coming soon.  Approximately 4 feet wide by 2.5  feet high by 18″ deep.

Price:  $65.00. (It was $135.00, but a leg that was damaged was broken off by a contractor who apparently decided to shove the chest across the floor.)  Plus the usual 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax.

WOW!  Right now the chest is in storage at 5 Park Street in Lewiston.  We will be moving it out of storage no later than March 20th. If you purchase it before that date, we will knock another $20 off the price, bringing it down to $45… which is 1/3 of what we had it for originally.

NOTE: Now that we’ve downsized at our main location, our new entrance is at the back of the building (use the rear entrance in back of 189 Main Street, off the Park Street side).  You’ll see some signs in the windows saying “Heritage Collectibles”, “Retail Shop” and “Welcome”, as well as our “Open” flag!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us for the past three years!

SOLD! Bunny Cabinet – It’s Adorable! – Would Make a Great Kids’ Hamper

Bunny Cabinet - Hamper for a Child?

Bunny Cabinet – Hamper for a Child?

Bunny

Bunny

This bunny cabinet is wicked cute.  We’re not sure what it was used for… it could have been in the kitchen with potatoes stored inside, or perhaps it was in the sewing room, and held knitting materials?  We’re of the opinion that this would make a GREAT kid’s hamper or toy bin.

Condition:  Excellent.  It was well taken care of by its previous owner.

Dimensions:  Coming soon.  Approximately 2-2.5 feet high by 1 foot square..

Price:  $20.00 plus 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax.

Please note: The shop at 189 Main Street in Lewiston is closed from September 1-25, 2017 while Linda visits her daughter, son-in-law and new grandson!

Some Quick Details:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on the prices listed in our blogs… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We used to when we first opened the shops, and found that too often the person asking us to hold an item never came back and we lost sales in the interim to someone who was standing there with cash in hand. Obviously, that’s not good business.
  • Questions.  This is tough… I’d like to be responsive to everyone who has questions, but I work full time as a social worker, and full time at this shop hoping that someday it will make enough money so I can retire from that social work job.  This means I have very limited time to respond to questions, especially if those questions have already been answered in this blog or on our various posts.  So I may not have time to respond…
  • Dealers. We’re happy to talk to you!  Please remember to bring a copy of your State Resellers License.

Layaway Plan:  Please see our “Details: Layaway Plan” page.

SOLD! Starter, Storage or Camp Dresser – It’s in Pretty Decent Shape!

Dresser, Inexpensive

This is a nice clean dresser that would be great as a starter piece, in a camp, or for additional storage…. or, if you don’t mind the minor problems (described below), you can certainly use it as part of your everyday decor.   After all, it looks pretty good, the drawers slide well, and it’s in decent shape.  (Note: This was never a high end dresser, but is certainly satisfactory for its unpretentiousness.)

Condition:  Reasonably good (that’s my term for something that’s between “Good” and “Very Good”!).  The one thing that has dropped its value from between Very Good & Excellent (for the starter-type dresser this is), is that the heavy cardboard backing has loosened at the top left (when facing the dresser), and there’s a hole in the back where it got punctured before we bought it.  (I didn’t check the back before buying it.  Sigh…)

Dimensions:  Oops… Coming soon…. I have a bad habit of forgetting to measure things before I leave the shop…  😦

Price:  Just $50.00!!  (Because of that backing problem.)  Plus the 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.  There’s a lot of storage in this dresser, so if you buy it, you’ll be getting a good deal!

Layaway Plan:  Please see our “Details: Layaway Plan” page.

Someone started to refinish this classic desk but then seemed to give up on the project.  So you’re free to use your imagination!  Will you stain it in a traditional oak or mahogany, or will you go black, or perhaps even a mix of chalk paint and traditional stain?

Condition:  Very good.  The drawers all work well, without sticking.  It clearly needs to be refinished, recycled, repurposed, upcycled, or something….

Dimensions:  Coming soon.  Check back Sunday evening, as I should have measured the desk by then.  (It did, however, easily fit into our Jeep Liberty.)

I loved this church pew (Deacon’s pew)  the instant I saw it, but didn’t expect John to feel the same way. He’s definitely surprised me with not only how quickly he took to it, but the amount of time he spent this afternoon “testing” the pew for our customers!!

Condition:  Excellent.  It’s been finished in a distressed blue chalk type paint that makes this piece truly unique.

Dimensions:  Coming soon.  Suffice to say for now that my 6’3″ husband can sit in it comfortably, as can I (I’m a foot shorter than he is).

GONE! Curb Alert – Some Freebies, In The Alley by Our Back Door

Curb Alert 2 Curb Alert 3 Curb Alert 4 Curb Alert

We have a small bunch of freebies in the alley by our back door, right off Park Street in Lewiston.

There’s nothing particularly exciting but it is free, and we would love for it all to have a new home, or we’ll just throw it in the trash.

Just turn onto Park Street right after Heritage Collectibles’ front door (189 Main St, at the intersection with Park).  You’ll see #5 Park, which is our bookshop, Heritage Books & Maps.

Right at the end of the building is our alley, and that’s where you’ll find the current freebies.  Please come get them before it rains!

Hope you can find something worthwhile!
