From Wikipedia: “A chamber pot (also a jordan, a jerry, a guzunder, a po (possibly from French: pot de chambre), a piss pot, a potty, or a thunder pot) is a bowl-shaped container with a handle, and often a lid, kept in the bedroom under a bed or in the cabinet of a nightstand and generally used as a toilet at night. In Victorian times, some chamber pots would be built into a cabinet with a closeable cover.”
Well, whatever you want to call them (and I’m now partial to the term “thunder pot”), our chamber pots are quite pretty and I doubt they’ve ever been used for anything other than decoration! (We only have 3 left.)
As noted in our blog “Chamber Pot Commode (or Toilet Cabinet)“, these would look great grouped around a toilet cabinet you’ve refurbished, with asparagus fern fronds providing a lovely green contrast.
