SOLD! Nice Solid Little Coffee Table with a Blue Top

Coffee Table with Blue Top Coffee Table with Blue Top 3 Coffee Table with Blue Top 2

Here’s a great little coffee table – nothing fancy, but sturdy and functional – that someone painted in a country blue on its surface.  (The photos make it look greenish, but it’s really a blue.)  You can’t beat the value for the price.

Use as is, or turn it into a project piece.

Condition:  Structurally it’s in great shape.  There is an area on the top that seems to have sustained some damage (water, perhaps), but a well-placed doily or plant, and voila! Totally hidden!

Dimensions: About 15″H x 40″L x 20″D.

Price:  $15.00 (was $20.00).  Maine State Sales Tax of 5.5% applies.

July ArtWalk – Brandon Goding is Our Featured Photographer!

ArtWalk - Brandon Goding ArtWalk - Brandon Goding 10 ArtWalk - Brandon Goding 8 ArtWalk - Brandon Goding 6 ArtWalk - Brandon Goding 3 ArtWalk - Brandon Goding 2Clearly, my photography is no where near as good as Brandon’s (which I say with full acceptance of my point & click method using my iPhone – and getting lots of glare in the process), but the pictures here will give you a sense of this young man’s skill.

Brandon says, “I’m a hobby photographer who enjoys shooting nature and floral scenes. I travel around the state in my spare time on my motorcycles looking for neat places to take photographs.”

Please come in and meet Brandon during our next ArtWalk, Friday, July 29 from 5:00-8:00pm!  If you can’t make it on Friday the 29th, you can still view his work beginning right now and for the next couple of weeks.

As always, our featured artist’s work is on sale, with 100% of the proceeds going to that artist!

SOLD! Amazing WWII Era Scrapbook from Boothbay Harbor ME

Scrapbook Cover Scrapbook 5 Scrapbook 16 Scrapbook 8

This was originally a book about the Buick Motor Company titled “The Factory Behind The Car”, but over 70 years ago, an avid Maine news junkie by the name of Gertrude L. McKown, of McKown Hill in Boothbay Harbor, turned it into a scrap book, which includes newspaper clippings and other articles and information pieces from about 1940-1946.

Every single page – from the very first to the last – of the original book is covered with a clipping, chronicling events such as weddings, funerals, local catastrophes, ships launched in the local area (including YMS 104 and 106, mine sweepers), horse race info, and world news items in general as well as items of local interest.  Included are some cartoons, ads, poems and clippings on war heroes.  Some of the original book can be seen between the clippings.

The book also includes a typed letter to Mrs. O. M. McKown thanking her for her help in launching the YMS 104 built by Frank L. Sample Jr., Inc., Yachts and Vessels of Boothbay.

This is not only a fascinating, important historical document of the times in Maine during WWII; it is a wonderful insight into the interests of Ms. McKown.

See more pictures below.

Condition:  The binding is in pretty rough shape, but the contents are in 100% superb condition.

Dimensions:  8 1/2″H x 11″W x 1″D
