SOLD! Vintage Folk Art Farm Scene on Canvas with Barnboard Frame

barnboard-frame-folk-art-7
Gotta love folk art… it’s so simple and homey.  And the farm scene just warms my heart because as they say, you can take the girl off the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the girl.  (Right?  They do say that, don’t they?)

The artist is unknown; the piece is unsigned.

Condition:  Good to very good.

Dimensions:  About 39″W x 25″H.

Price:  $25.00.  Plus 5.5% Maine State sales tax.

Location:  This item can be found at our booth (#56) at the Den of Antiquities, 1399 Bridgton Road, Westbrook ME.

All profits from the sales of our inventory (after expenses, of course!) support The Grief Warrior Project, a suicide prevention drop-in center being developed.  You can find information on The Grief Warrior Project at warrior-project dot org.

SOLD! 27 Original “Oxford Democrat” Newspapers from 1894-1901

oxford-democrat-8

We were excited to acquire 27 original issues of the old “Oxford Democrat” dating from November 13, 1894 to July 16, 1901!  This was especially fun for me, as some of my family has lived in the Oxford Hills area since the late 1800s.

Condition:  While many of the papers are in excellent condition, some can only be deemed as fair.  Also, a few have the date and/or names handwritten across the top. Even so, the articles and the ads are still fascinating, especially for those of us native to the area… think of the hours you can spend immersed in the news from nearly 125 years ago!

Price:  Just $40.00 for all twenty-seven copies.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Layaway Plan:  Please see our “Details: Layaway Plan” page.

Payment Information:   Please see our “Details: Payment & Pricing” page.

“Mutual Moments” – 19 Newsletters Dated 1947-1957 from What is Now Known as Mutual of Omaha

mutual-of-omaha mutual-of-omaha-2
Dating back to 1947, these 19 separate newsletters from the Mutual Benefit Health and Accident Association of Omaha, Nebraska are a fun mix of data, jokes, letters to the company, data and other facts & figures!

The newsletters apparently were published quarterly.  At some point after the Winter 1952 edition, the company started designing the cover in full color; we don’t have the Spring or Summer publications but by Fall of 1952, the cover had been redesigned and was much more attractive.

Condition:  Very good.

Price:  $28.00 for all nineteen copies.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Location: Heritage Collectibles at 189 B Main Street (rear entrance), Lewiston ME 04240.

SOLD! Reproduction: Maine Central Railroad – Via Bangor & Piscataquis, and Monson Railroads

monson-repro-2
We just aquired 4 of these reproduction copies of the “Maine Central Railroad – Via Bangor & Piscataquis, and Monson Railroads”.  I’m not sure when the original was published as the only date I can find (1889) may be the date that one of the advertisers was founded.

Otherwise, this is a pretty cool little 32-page booklet, with an extensive narrative describing the town of Monson, Maine.

Note: The photo makes the cover look much darker than the sage green it actually is.

Condition:  Excellent

Price:  $5.00 for all four copies.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)
