SOLD! Desk Top Sun Dial – A Perfect Addition to a Formal Office or Library

02-12-sundial

The perfect addition to a formal library or office, our desk top sun dial is reminiscent of Hemingway or perhaps even the ancient philosophers.

Condition:  Excellent.

Dimensions:   About 10″ high.

Price:  $14.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Quick Details:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on our prices… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We’ve been screwed on this more than once, and won’t do it any more.
  • Questions.  This is tough… I’d like to be responsive to everyone who has questions, but I work full time as a social worker, and full time at this shop hoping that someday it will make enough money so I can retire from that social work job.  This means I have very limited time to respond to questions, especially if those questions have already been answered in this blog or on our various posts.  So I may not have time to respond…

SOLD! 22 String Celtic Harp

02-24-harp

This is a beautifully made Celtic style, 22 string harp.  It is absolutely beautiful in its simplicity and the wood is just lovely, although I don’t know what kind it is.

Condition: Excellent.  It has some minor dings in the wood here and there, but over all it’s lovely.  I unfortunately am not the musician in the family (my late husband was), so can’t tell you if it’s been tuned recently.

Dimensions:   The base is 23″ long by 7″ deep.  The overall length of the harp is 29″ long x 23″ high.

Price:  $125.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Soil Survey – Penobscot County Maine, Issued 1963 – With Loads of Maps!

02-24-soil-sample-penobscot

This large manual also gives the following information on the cover: Series 1959, No. 28.   United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service.  In cooperation with the University of Maine Agricultural Experiment Station.

I considered taking the book apart and selling the maps individually for $10 each, which would bring in a lot more money to our shop than selling the manual as a single entity.  But I decided against that idea, figuring that someone else with better connections in the Penobscot region might want to do it that way.

Condition:  Very good to excellent.

# Pages / Maps: 119 pages plus over 100 fold-out colored topographical maps.  The manual is about 1.5″ thick.

Price:  $150.00.  (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

SOLD! Vintage Italian Cut Glass Pitcher

pitcher-vintage-italian-cut-glass

This antique cut glass pitcher was made in Italy, and is both sturdy and delicate.  You’ll want to clean it up a bit, but otherwise, it is lovely!

Condition:  Very good.

Dimensions: About 15″H.

Location:  At our booth (#23) in the Hathaway Mill Antique Mall, 10 Water Street, Waterville  ME  04901.

Price:  $30.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Please note: The shop at 189 Main Street in Lewiston is closed from September 1-25, 2017 while Linda visits her daughter, son-in-law and new grandson!

Some Quick Details:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on the prices listed in our blogs… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We used to when we first opened the shops, and found that too often the person asking us to hold an item never came back and we lost sales in the interim to someone who was standing there with cash in hand. Obviously, that’s not good business.

SOLD! Nice Old Platform Footstool with Brown Cushion

02-12-hassock-brown-platform

I’ll bet there was a matching platform rocker once upon a time…but we don’t have it.

The footstool, however, is pretty nice and you can’t beat the price!

Note: Someone placed velcro on the wood and the cushion which could suggest to some people that the footstool isn’t necessarily vintage.  Velcro was invented in the 1950s, however, making it a good 65 years old (and therefore antique! if one goes by the accepted definition as being 50+ years old).   Or the velcro could have been added after manufacture.  In any event, it seems that this footstool is vintage, if not antique.

Condition:  Very good.

Dimensions: It’s typical footstool height and width… I’ll have to measure when I get to the shop next.

Price:  $15.00.

Heritage Collectibles and Heritage Books & Maps are being combined into one shop: Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps, located at 189 Main Street in Lewiston.  We’ll still have two separate blogs: https://heritagecollectiblesmaine.com and https://heritagebooksandmaps.com.

Please follow either or both, and show us you like us!  (The more followers, likes and comments we have, the more impetus we have to put our efforts into presenting you with cool products and fascinating reads!)

Papa’s Thrift Shop is being re-opened at 5 Park Street where it was originally (same building, separate entrance around the corner)!  We had hoped to be up and running again by February 15 but it’s looking like another month before we can make that happen (sorry!).   Papa’s website is:  https://papasthriftshop.com/

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – it was his baby.

He loved me, and oh how I loved him.
