Love Our Customers!

Oh how I love our repeat customers!

This morning my heart was warmed by a young man with his toddler daughter.  He has her every weekend, and often stops in to the shop to buy one or two items.  Last weekend, he picked up a few books for the little girl as well as something for himself.  While he was looking around, and to keep the short one entertained, I gave her a plastic kids’ wagon that she could put stuff in and pull along with her.

Dad wasn’t convinced she’d like it – and she certainly didn’t seem all that impressed at the time.  This morning, however, they were walking by the shop, and she was pulling the little wagon behind her, with a hefty pile of stuffed animals in it.  Dad said he was surprised because the wee one had taken a sudden liking to the wagon and hauled it behind her everywhere.  Not only does Dad not have to carry his daughter, but she even totes some of his purchases, too!

It’s this kind of happenstance that makes life worthwhile.

Auburn ME Centennial Souvenir Brochure, 1869-1969

We love-love-love this souvenir brochure from Auburn’s Centennial (1869-1969), which is now almost 50 years old!  The pictures of the swollen Androscoggin, and workers trying to remove ice and flooding from Auburn’s downtown are startling; the photos of the intersections of Turner and Court, and Main and Court, streets show a very different version of the town than we see today.

Condition:  Excellent!

Style: Vintage, Early American, Country

Price:  Just $10.00 at Heritage Collectibles.  Plus the standard 5.5% sales tax, of course!

And man, the songs these books contain…

Price:  The songbooks sell for $9.50 each on a popular booksellers website, with just 3 available.  Our price is only $7.50 each, or all 11 of them for $60.00.  (Plus sales tax, of course.)

SOLD! Vintage 1950s Spool Carousel, Ferris Wheel Style

This Ferris Wheel style thread carousel is super cool.  We’d never seen one like this before, and when researching it, only found one other that’s been sold in the past 10 years.

The carousel holds 70 spools of thread (those seen in the photos are included) situated on 10 racks which revolve in the stand, remaining upright as they turn.

The best we can figure is this is from the 1950s.  It’s all metal with no plastic pieces.

Dimensions:  About 12″ wide x 12″ high x 12″ deep

Condition:  Structurally it’s in great shape although there is some minor rust on the legs.

Style: Vintage, Early American.

Price:  Just $25.00 at Heritage Collectibles.  Plus the standard 5.5% sales tax, of course!

SOLD! Very Inexpensive Camp or Starter Dresser

As we often say… Leave it as is, or use it as a project piece!  The price is definitely right, either way.

Dimensions:  31″ wide x 37″ high x 14.5″ deep

Condition:  Structurally it’s in decent shape although the back panel could use some reinforcement, as could the bottom (underneath the drawers).  And of course it’s seen better days – it’s a bit scratched up!

Style: Vintage, Early American, Country

Price:  Just $25.00 at Heritage Collectibles.  Plus the standard 5.5% sales tax, of course!

Heritage Collectibles and Heritage Books & Maps have been combined into one shop: Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps, located at 189 Main Street in Lewiston.  We’ll still have two separate blogs: https://heritagecollectiblesmaine.com and https://heritagebooksandmaps.com.

Please follow either or both, and show us you like us!  (The more followers, likes and comments we have, the more impetus we have to put our efforts into presenting you with cool products and fascinating reads!)

Papa’s Thrift Shop has been re-opened at 5 Park Street (it’s in the same building as Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps but with a separate entrance around the corner from the 189 Main Street address)!   Papa’s website is:  https://papasthriftshop.com/

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – it was his baby.

He loved me, and oh how I loved him.

Follow our blog at https://warrior-project.org, in honor of my husband, and all others who have been lost to internal demons that in the end, overwhelmed them.

All of the profits after expenses from Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps and Papa’s Thrift Shop will go to help fund The Warrior Project, a suicide prevention drop-in and counseling center in the process of being developed.

(Please Note: The Warrior Project is in no way intended to be reflective of, or piggy back off, Wounded Warriors which serves those military personnel wounded after September 11, 20o1.  Like too many others, John was a warrior long before then.)
