SOLD! Vintage/Antique Smokers Stand with Humidor

I got this vintage, probably antique, free-standing, floor model smoker’s stand and humidor at an auction sight unseen (other than one rather poor quality photo), so I had no clue what I was actually getting. Based on that photo, it seemed to be in pretty bad condition, and my fingers were crossed that it wasn’t just a piece of junk. (That’s happened before, and it’s a serious bummer.)

To my relief, it’s not at all a piece of junk, although it’s apparently been in storage with unregulated temperature for quite some time as the highly detailed paint job is pretty much worn off. The piece appears to have been primarily green with stenciling on all four sides and the top. At first glance, I thought the stenciling was perhaps a Pennsylvania Dutch pattern, but on closer look, I don’t know what it is.

Someone with good painting and stenciling skills could turn this into an adorable little piece. (Not me… I have zero aptitude for such things.)

There should be a big old ashtray in the middle but that’s missing. There’s a notch on either side to hold a pipe. The cabinet is metal lined, so originally was a humidor for tobacco and cigars.

Condition:   As shown in the photos and the description above.  Structurally it’s sound and very sturdy, although the door latch doesn’t quite work… It doesn’t seem to line up evenly.  It is missing the ashtray that would have sat in the middle.

Dimensions:   20″W x 12″D x 25.5″H.

Price:  $28.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax for $1.54, for a total of $29.54.  Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

Shipping & Delivery:
Shipping this item is not recommended because the cost to value ratio would be prohibitive.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Shipping via USPS would be $20.00.  Your best bet would be to pick it up at our office.

SOLD! Funky Chicken!

Umm… what can we say? This rooster made out of old horseshoes is one of the most… uh… colorful things we’ve seen in a while. (And yes, we deliberately won it at a recent auction.)

You tell me this doesn’t belong in a farmer’s garden or displayed on some chicken lover’s shelf. Double dog dare you.

Condition:  It does have some rust spots… after all, it was made from old iron horseshoes.  But otherwise, I’d say it’s in wicked good condition.  I guess….

Dimensions:   13″H x 10″W x 5″D

Price:  $28.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.

Shipping & Delivery:  Please see the tabs above.

The Green Man | The North Wind – In a Fireside Chair!

The carving on the back of this chair is just stunning. I could look at all the swirls and patterns all day, imagining the force of nature represented here. LOVE this chair!

I overpaid for this, so won’t make much when it sells, but just had to have it. This chair is fabulous.

Condition: For a chair that’s probably 19th century, and more than likely got banged around a bit, it’s in good condition.  It’s sturdy (not perfect but still can readily handle an adult’s weight without problem), and although the seat is blemished from decades of use, it’s still in decent shape. Note, there are no stretchers between the legs, but it’s still pretty darned sturdy!

Dimensions: The chair is 34″ in height overall; 17″ to the seat, and another 17″ to the top of the back. The front of the seat (where your legs are) is 17″ wide; the back of the seat is 15″ wide (so it narrows from front to back). The carved back is 15″ at its widest.

Price: $280.00. Plus Maine State Sales Tax, of $15.68, totaling $295.68. Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

Location & Purchasing
: This piece is located in our display case (#27) at Cabot Mill Antiques, Fort Andross, 14 Maine Street, Brunswick ME. You can purchase directly through them by visiting that beautiful shop, 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (7:00 pm on Fridays).

We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn most days, or along the Lewiston-Lisbon-Topsham-Brunswick route (dates vary), for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.

SOLD! Only 1 Left! Feel Like You’re Living in Luxury with These Super Cool Vintage Pedestals – 2 Are Chalkware

O

I have several pedestals at home, mostly reproduction Grecian style.  And I love them!  They’re great for plants like philodendrons and ivy, or for displaying a strikingly colorful piece of artwork.

For example, here are some ideas..

Our (reproduction) cinnebar horse statue ($40) really pops against the white of this chalkware pedestal.

This reproduction pedestal is wider and lower to the floor, so I added an urn (Greek or Roman with 3 maidens, $60) and a philodendron to balance it out.

Here’s the urn without the plant.

And here is one of the pedestals with just the plant. A much larger one would look even better!

Two of the three pedestals (the square ones) are vintage chalkware, which is hollow and does damage rather easily, and is difficult to find nowadays for that reason. The other (the round one) is a reproduction.

Condition:
The smaller of the two square chalkware pedestals is in very good shape. The larger one took a hit on a corner at some point, although it’s not all that noticeable (especially if placed against a wall!). The larger one does have some dark lines on the top, as if something was dragged across it.

The round reproduction is in great shape, except for a small ding on the top surface.

The blemishes can be seen in the photos.

Dimensions:

SOLD! Small square chalkware pedestal: 8″ square by 20″ high.
SOLD! Tall square chalkware pedestal: 10″ square by 28″ high.
Round reproduction pedestal: 15″ diameter by 16″ high.

Prices:

SOLD! Small square chalkware pedestal: $30.00, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $1.65 for a total of $31.65.
SOLD! Tall square chalkware pedestal: $40.00, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $2.20 for a total of $42.20.
Round reproduction pedestal: $35.00, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $1.93 for a total of $36.93.

Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

Shipping & Delivery:
Shipping these items is not recommended because the cost to value ratio would be prohibitive, and shipping the two chalkware pieces makes us nervous.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Shipping each piece via USPS would be about $20.00.

SOLD! Pair of Vintage (1970s era) Cherub / Angel Side Tables with Glass Tops

Oh my goodness, I cannot tell you how much I love love love these little cherub side tables!  They definitely belong in the “Kitsch Boutique” I keep fantasizing about opening one day… they are just the best!

I couldn’t find anything on them despite searching a few different sites, but I’m sure more research will score some information.

These came out of the home of an elderly Greek gentleman from whom I got quite a bit of the Mid Century Modern I’ve posted recently.  Cool stuff!

Please Note: These are not chalkware.  They’re some kind of reproduction material that started being used around the 1970s because chalkware chipped and broke too easily.  It’s possible they’re reproductions of some original design but I can’t find the original design to compare with.

Condition:  Excellent.  All fingers and toes are accounted for!

Dimensions:  16” H x 18” W (the diameter of the round glass tops)

Price:  $95.00 for the pair, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.

Shipping & Delivery:  Please see the tabs above.

Price:  $24.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $.77 for a total of $24.77. Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

SOLD! Great Old-Fashioned Clothes Drying Rack – Larger Than Most!

I grew up using one of these old clothes drying racks – and a wringer washer, too, which was more dangerous for a klutz like me than you might realize.  I have the scars to prove it! (From the wringer washer, not the drying rack!)

Condition:  Very good.  It’s a bit wobbly as they all were, and a few of the rungs could use some wood glue (or not), but it’s otherwise in pretty good condition and will hold a lot of clothing for a whole lot cheaper than using your dryer every month!

Dimensions: 53″ H x 33″ W.   When fully opened up, it’s a bit over 3′ long.

Price:  $18.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.  Dogs not included.

Shipping & Delivery:  Please see the tabs above
