… 100+ CDs (I haven’t had a chance to check out the music genres the group consists of)
… A nice red floral rug runner
… a lovely small dome chest
… a small clothes drying rack
… 3 chalkware pedestals and 1 reproduction
… a nice small area rug
… a garden hose & reel
… 2 busts (one is “busted” but repairable)
… a very cool Thor figurine
… a cute cookie jar
… a casserole with a duck shaped cover
… bookends, “The Thinker”
… an amazing figural lamp
… an even more amazing Roman soldier helmet lamp
… several small pedestals
… a figurine of wolves in a semi-circle
… a white knight
… several reindeer figurines
… a small repro fire truck
… a palm tree plaque
… 3 large decorative pillows
and
… several small pillows

It’s an odd mix, as you can tell, but that’s what’s fun about this business – finding the kinds of things our customers need… or don’t need, but want!

I did get a few photos… check them out below!

SOLD! Create a Child’s Play Center From Vintage End Tables!

It’s been a while since we’ve had vintage end tables (side tables) in stock; they really don’t sell well for us – or anyone! – any more.

But we have two now, and I thought it would be great to recycle this old craft idea.  Just turn those end tables into something useful and fun!  And the ones we have are even better than the one depicted above, as they each have a drawer to hold additional pieces!

Note: There’s even a marble top coffee table that goes with this set that seems like it would make a perfect additional surface for a child’s playtime!  Either leave as is, or cut the legs to bring the surface down a bit lower.

To see the original post on these items, click on this link: https://heritagecollectiblesmaine.com/2020/12/10/vintage-3-piece-french-provincial-set-2-end-tables-and-a-marble-topped-coffee-table/

Condition:  They are in very good, solid condition but both have what appear to be old cigarette burns on the top (please see photos).  If you were to turn these into play centers for kids, those blemishes would be gone in a jiffy!

Dimensions:   30″L x 20″W x 24″H. (The main surface is about 14″H.)  The drawers in each side table are about 1 1/2″ deep.

Price:
Side tables: Originally listed on another blog on this site for $40.00 for the pair, now just $15.00 each or $25.00 for the pair, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $1.38 for a total of $26.38.
Both side tables and the marble top coffee table: $50.00 for all (originally listed at $90.00 for the set). With Maine State Sales Tax of $2.75, that’s a total of $52.75.

Shipping & Delivery:  Shipping this set is not recommended because the cost to value ratio would be prohibitive: the marble alone is extraordinarily heavy and would have to go via a freight company.  Because of this, we are unable to deliver the coffee table; it takes two strong individuals to carry that marble.  Your best bet is to pick it up yourself… and bring a buddy for help!

Framed Reprint of 1920s Photo of Tunisian Soldier Peering Through Window

This WWII era picture is very disturbing. We're looking for any information militaria buffs might have (not an appraisal - the history behind the picture).

This WWII era picture is very disturbing. We’re looking for any information militaria buffs might have (not an appraisal – the history behind the picture).

I first posted this print in a vintage oval wood frame back in June of 2015, asking if anyone might have any information on its background.

I’d picked it up at an auction, without realizing the content.  When John, my late husband, took a close look, he realized it is a very disturbing, although possibly posed, depiction of a what seemed to be a Japanese soldier peering in at a half-nude woman being held for the sex trade… and it appeared there’s a man directly behind her who can only be seen via his leg which is wrapped around her.  John, a serious history buff, thought this was from WWII, but as it turns out, the original photo was taken even earlier than that.

We eventually tracked down the following information via a site that specializes in identifying such things, which provided the following information:

“This is a print of a photograph of a North African (Tunisian) brothel in the 1920’s published by Lehnert and Landrock (Rudolph Franz Lehnert and Ernst Heinrich Landrock), an Austrian and Swiss photography team that established a book store and photo shop in 1924 in Cairo, Egypt. Your piece is a known print and …has been cut down to fit in that frame… Below is the original image.”

The original photo.

Because we only have a photocopy (I’m not convinced it’s even a print) of the original photo, it’s blurred – and we mistook her right arm for a man’s boot (thinking he was sitting directly behind her).

In any event, war is hell.

WWII Picture 3 WWII Picture WWII Picture 4

Condition: The oval wooden frame is in very good condition with only a couple of small dings.  The print does appear to be an old photocopy instead of an actual print, and is therefore somewhat faded and blurred.

Dimensions:  10 1/2″H x 8″W x 1/2″D

Price:  $30.00.  Plus the 5.5% required Maine State Sales Tax of $1.65 for a total of $31.65.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Shipping via USPS is $8.00.

Killian’s Red Lighted Bar Sign for the Mancave (or She Shed!)

Killian’s Red is good stuff, and this lighted bar sign is pretty cool, too. Presently it’s hanging in the hallway in my office suite, which may not be the best place for it (you know, professionalism and all that).

The sign is plastic but looks awfully good all lit up, hanging on the wall!

Copyrighted 1989.

Condition: It works and is in good condition.

Dimensions:  26″H x 16″W x 6″D

Price:  $30.00.  Plus the 5.5% required Maine State Sales Tax of $1.65 for a total of $31.65.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Shipping is not recommended as the price would be prohibitive when compared with the value of this piece (unless you really really want it, of course!)

SOLD! Really Cute Navy Blue Baker’s Rack

If I didn’t already have 3 baker’s racks in my kitchen… this is super cute!

It’s not one of those heavy duty designs, but it’s not flimsy, either. And it holds all sorts of whatever you want to put on it. The bottom shelf includes two cloth baskets on framework that make great catchalls for packaged goods such as paper towels, or perhaps dish towels – or the linens that come with the rack (see below).

And the floral design that’s repeated throughout is adorable.

This bakers rack folds up for easy storage or moving.

Also included are 6 light blue cloth placemats that all seem in good condition (plus a 7th with some stains), 3 blue cloth napkins, a matching rectangular tablecloth, and two white rectangular doilies with lace edging.

Condition: It’s in excellent condition.

Dimensions:  The three lower shelves are 14″ deep; the top one is 10″ deep.  The rack is 56 1/2″ high to the top of the floral design, and 30″ wide.  The two bottom baskets are about 13″ square and 12″ tall.

Price:  $65.00.  Plus the 5.5% required Maine State Sales Tax of $3.30 for a total of $63.30.

Wonderful Antique Child’s “Pouting” Chair / Rocker

This is a great antique child’s “pouting” chair. It’s solidly made, with a built-in rocker, and is very primitive looking. It would fit in well with a farmhouse motif.

According to one internet source, “pouting chairs” were originally built by German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I found a similar chair – not a rocker – on-line for over $300!

This appears to be handmade.

Condition: It’s in excellent condition, although it could use a bit of sanding in some rough areas such as inside the handle grips on the arms.

Dimensions:  13″ wide x 19″ deep (to the back of the rocker) x 28″ high.  It’s 11 3/4″ to the seat surface and the seat itself is 10″ deep.

Price:  $45.00.  Plus the 5.5% required Maine State Sales Tax of $2.48 for a total of $47.48.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Shipping via USPS would be $25.00.

SOLD! Beautiful Thomasville Wingback in Brown and Tan

If you research Thomasville wingbacks on eBay, you’ll find they’re going for anywhere from a few hundred dollars to much more – the name is synonymous with quality.

Luckily, you needn’t pay that much if you purchase ours… it’s only $195.00. And worth every penny.

Presently, it’s taking up space in the waiting room of my office (as the photos show!), but placing it there temporarily demonstrated how nicely the colors blend in with the brown leather couch in that space even though the couch is of an entirely different style… the classic look and muted brown colors will probably work in almost any room.

Condition: It’s in near perfect condition.  There is a rough edge on the right hand rear leg (you can see it in one of the photos), but that’s all I’ve found.

Dimensions:  44″ to the top of the back; 20″ to the seat.  The chair is about 36″ wide and 26″ deep, counting the curvature of the back.

Price:  $195.00.  Plus the 5.5% required Maine State Sales Tax of $10.73 for a total of $205.73.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  I wouldn’t recommend shipping it as the price would probably be prohibitive.

SOLD! Beautiful Large Floral Asian Jar

Although it was described as a “Chinese cookie jar” by the source I got it from, it’s not Chinese and probably was never intended as a cookie jar – although it’s certainly large enough to hold many dozens of cookies.

There’s a maker’s mark or logo on the bottom, but I haven’t yet found who that logo belongs to.

In any event, this jar is a beauty, and is in perfect condition.

Condition: Excellent.  Like new.

Dimensions:  11″ high x 10″ diameter.

Price:
$24.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales tax of $1.32 for a total of $25.32.

Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00.  Based on a recent experience with shipping an item to a customer, I wouldn’t recommend shipping this jar unless you’re willing to pay well to insure it doesn’t break.  .
