While we do have more traditional switchplate covers for sale, I’m rather partial to these. Of course, they aren’t for everyone; I suspect you need a quirky personality to find these appealing!
They’re made with a rusted metal patina, and are big compared with standard switchplate covers. You’ll be the only one in town with one of these; I pretty much guarantee it!
As the photos show, there are three different designs:
One is apparently a shaman or tribal elder of some kind.
One has a twig outline with a bear on top.
And the third one… well, it’s a giant fish who’s caught a fisherman! What a hoot!
Condition: They are in excellent, like new condition with no noted flaws, chips or blemishes! Other than that intended rusty metal look, that is.
Dimensions: The shaman is 11 1/2 inches high by about 6 inches wide. The bear is 9 1/2 inches high by about 5 inches wide. The fish is a good 12 1/2 inches high by about 6 inches wide.
FIRM Prices: The shaman: $20.00. The bear: $18.00. The fish: $24.00. All three for $50.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales tax.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Free local pickup. Yesterday I was checking out some upcoming auctions when a photo of these alligator napkin rings caught my eye. WHOA! Must have!
However, the auction was a two and a half hour drive from my house – meaning 5 hours round trip – and I already had a full day planned. I quickly scanned the rest of the listed inventory and decided, oh what the heck. I’m going!
But first I did some quick research on these guys and only found one reference. Someone is selling them on eBay for about $27.00 EACH!
Well, they rather unique, that’s for certain.
And now you have the chance to own your very own alligator napkin rings… teeth and all!
Condition: They are in perfect, almost like new condition with no noted flaws, chips or blemishes!
Dimensions: Each of these guys (or gals?) is about 3 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide. They are quite a bit larger than your average napkin ring. As is fitting!
FIRM Price: $36.00 for a pair; $64.00 for all four. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales tax.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Free local pickup. We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $10.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $10.00. Shipping is $10.00.
This is one of those wonderful antique desks with pigeonholes, little drawers and interesting spaces… It closes to a completely flat top, or opens to show all of its considerable features. It’s easier to have you check out the photos than to try to describe everything, but the basics are: 3 little drawers and a full drawer, 2 pigeonholes, 2 small “wells” (one on each side), and a writing tray that pulls out! (Oh, and apparently the legs do twist off for easier transport.)
I’m posting this for a friend who no longer has room for it. I first took these photos quite some time ago, but somehow never got around to posting them. As you can see, she was in the process of renovating part of her house, and Romeo (the white kitty) was checking things out. Romeo died a while back but his happy-friendly cat personality lives on in the photos.
Condition: This desk is in great, solid condition. It does have a number of stains and blemishes, as well as an area on one side where the wood was damaged, but those are purely cosmetic. This is an amazing desk, in the exact condition it was when my friend purchased it.
Dimensions: The desk is 19 1/2″ deep by 35 1/2″ wide. Closed, it’s 31 1/2″ high.
Fully opened up, it’s 36 1/2″ high (to the book rest at the back). The 3 small drawers are 4 1/2″ wide each, and the writing tray extends 6 1/2″ beyond the footprint of the desk. The large drawer is 25″ wide by about 1 1/8″ high by 15″ deep.
FIRM Price: $150.00. Because this is privately owned (not part of a business), there is no sales tax.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Free local pickup. We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00. Shipping is $75.00.
We do love gargoyles and dragons, and take a look at this wonderful set of gargoyle bookends!
Condition: Very good vintage condition.
Dimensions: Each is 10″ high by 4″ wide by 4″ deep.
FIRM Price: $35.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.65 for a total of $31.63.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Free local pickup at my office in Lewiston (by appointment). I’d never heard the word before, until it was used to describe these three cast iron pots, which prompted me to do some research. It’s fascinating what one can find.
It seems that the three posnets we have are 19th century, possibly even 18th, which could put them around 200 or more years old. This is not an area where I have any expertise, but based on my research, the casting gate marks underneath each pot provide evidence that the three are from the late 1700s to late 1800s. (The casting gate marks are the ridge you can see underneath each of the three posnets, as shown in the photos.)
One has a painting on the side … it’s very cool. (See photos below.) Condition: Excellent. They are all in great shape.
Dimensions: Small Posnet: The pot on this is 6.5″ in diameter, 4″ deep and 5″ high overall (with the little legs). With the handle, it’s 11 1/4″ long. Two Medium Posnets: The pots are 7 1/2″ in diameter; 4 1/2″ deep and 5 1/2″ high overall. With the handle, it’s 13 1/2″ long.
FIRM Price: Small Posnet: $55.00. Medium Posnet: $60.00. Medium Painted Posnet: $70.00 All three for $150.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.
Location & Purchasing: The posnets will be located in our display case (#27) at Cabot Mill Antiques, Fort Andross, 14 Maine Street, Brunswick ME beginning Saturday morning, February 13. (Until then, they’ll be at my office in Lewiston.) You can purchase directly through Cabot Mill Antiques by visiting that beautiful shop, 7 days a week from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (7:00 pm on Fridays).
Alternatively, if you don’t mind waiting a bit:

At that point, you’d be able to take advantage of local pick up at my office (by appointment only), or I can get it delivered to you per the next paragraph.

This is a nice solid glass side table or small coffee table in a mission style, with a shelf underneath. It would go with most decorating styles, but might look especially good in a mancave or camp!
Condition: It’s in good, sturdy condition. There is a chip in the wood on one corner as seen in the photo above. Some dark brown furniture touch-up should take care of it. (The glass top is a bit dusty!)
Dimensions: 23″H x 22 1/2″W x 21 1/2″D.
FIRM Price: $30.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.65 for a total of $31.65.

I just adore mythical creatures, and this guy is one of the best! He’s black/green in color, with areas of a bright gold color, which makes him a bit more fierce, right?.
He is made of some kind of resin, not cement, so should last well.
Condition: He’s in very good condition.

FIRM Price: $85.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $4.68 for a total of $89.68.

Some of our customers know that several years ago, Johnny and I had a bricks & mortar shop that we just loved, even though we were both working full-time jobs in addition to managing the store.
After he tragically died in October of 2016, I closed the shop… I just didn’t have the heart for it any more.
Slowly, oh so slowly, the years have gone by, and I’ve found my love for this business again, and re-opened in earnest this past fall, although it’s been on-line only, with local pick-up available.
In the meantime, I have a busy, time-time consuming virtual office management business, and an office suite in downtown Lewiston. I keep meaning to get around to expanding the business and hiring staff (I do have the office space for it) but instead have ended up using those offices to store inventory.
And a friend has been using what should be my conference room to run his eBay business.
However, my friend is moving into expanded digs by the end of this month, and I’ll be moving my inventory into that conference room. This will allow me to do two things: expand my office management business, and allow my customers to see our inventory, by appointment only.
I’m not sure yet when I’ll be able to have appointment times available for interested people to come check out our great vintage and contemporary home and garden inventory… my schedule isn’t at all consistent because of my work, and because of the various auctions I go to.
But it’ll all work out, and I’m looking forward to a chance to display our “stuff” – and perhaps even do on-line auctions on Facebook or other media! (And although I’m sorry to see my friend go, I’m thrilled that the business he and his wife are running is doing so well!)
Stay tuned!
