SOLD. Lovely Detailed Half-Moon Cabinet From One of Those World Import Shops

There’s something about walking into one of those import-type shops that makes one want to buy everything in sight.  The exotic smells, the colors, the shapes & designs – they’re all so much more interesting than our everyday furniture.

This wonderful half moon type cabinet apparently came from such a shop.  And it certainly meets the expectation of what you’d find there.

Dimensions: I wasn’t able to get the measurements at the auction, but will as soon as I pick it up on Sunday (March 21st).  There wasn’t room in my Jeep to bring it back with the other inventory I purchased. I’d say it’s about 3′ wide by 20″ deep by 3′ tall, but that’s just an estimate on very little sleep.

Condition:  As the photos show, it’s in excellent condition.  Other than some very minor dings in the wood frame and a section where the door closes and there’s a scrape, I found no blemishes or flaws..

FIRM Price:  $145.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $7.98 for a total of $152.98

SOLD! Wow! Look at This Great Fainting Couch!

I thought I had a taken a photo of this wonderful fainting couch straight on, so you could get a sense of how very cool it is.  But apparently not.  And it doesn’t fit in my Jeep, so I’ll have to go back for it with another vehicle, which I expect will be tomorrow (Sunday, March 21st).

I’ll post more photos to this blog then, although if you’re looking at this on Marketplace or some other site, you may have to go to our website (see link below) to see them as I may not have a chance to update the Marketplace posting.

Anyway, this is a wonderful vintage/antique fainting couch.  The legs are on casters, and it has some nice carved wood.  It does appear to have been re-upholstered at some point.

I haven’t personally checked out the comfort level, but the auctioneer and crew stated it is very comfortable!

Dimensions:  I don’t have the full measurements yet but it’s about 6′ long.  .

Condition:  As the photos show, it’s in excellent condition.  Other than some minor dings in the wood frame, the only flaw I found was on the back, where there are some pulls in the upholstery.

SOLD! Super Cute Little Desk or Vanity with Tri-Fold Mirror and Upholstered Stool

This is a super cute little white vanity or desk with an upholstered stool.  The auction house said this would look great in any little girl’s room but I’m thinking it would be perfect for any fairly short person. (My daughter is just a smidge under 5’0″, and this would be a great piece for her if she didn’t already have exactly what she needs!)

The trifold mirror can detach for ease of transport, or for use elsewhere.

The 3 jewelry displays are not included, but can be for an additional $20.00 (for all).

Dimensions:  The vanity itself is about 30″ high x 31 1/2″ wide; the knee space is about 24″.  Other measurements to come.

According to Breslin.com: The knee space under the desk should be 20 to 26 inches high, no less than 20 to 24 inches wide, and 12 to 15 inches deep. Drawers installed below the work surface are generally larger than those above it. Upper drawers are typically used to store small items such as pens, paper clips, stamps, and personal effects.

SOLD! Great Distressed Blue “Modern” Jelly Cabinet

Although it’s considered a “modern” – or reproduction – cabinet, that’s because the back is a thin plywood.  It’s not the crappy heavy cardboard you sometimes see on contemporary bookcases or other inexpensive furniture, but it’s not old boards which would make this cabinet much heavier than it is.  And considerably more expensive.  

The cabinet has a distressed look to it, because it is from real use, not some factory cutesiness! There are dings and scrapes, as well as a burn or some other kind of mark on top as shown in the photos. There are also some darker areas in the paint (which is more blue than my photos show) which are typical of older paint. 

This cabinet definitely has the old farmhouse feel to it.  It’s a very nice piece but as noted above, is not a “straight from the factory” type of distressed.  It’s the real thing.

The photo above and some of those below shows the true color better than the rest, which have it as more grey… it’s not.  It’s a country blue.

Dimensions:  The cabinet is 20 1/2″ wide by 51″ high x 13″ deep.

Condition:  Structurally, it’s in good solid condition.  Visually, it’s also in good condition unless you’re expecting a more sanitized version of what’s called “distressed” nowadays.  Please review the photos for further information.

Eagle Rug with Blue Background – from Our Americana Shop

While we haven’t collected as many Americana-themed items as we’d expected by now, we are happy to add this thick warm rug to the inventory.  It would look great in front of a fireplace, especially with a couple of dogs keeping themselves all warm and toasty!  (And given the bone-chilling temps we’ve been dealing with this March, that seems like a great idea for us humans, too!)

Dimensions:   About 5′ x 2 1/2′ although I haven’t yet measured it.

Condition:  Very good.  It’s a bit dusty and could use a laundering, but otherwise it’s in good shape.

SOLD. Absolutely Adorable White French Provincial Style Side Table with Floral Accents

Isn’t this the sweetest little table ever?  Of course it is!  It has a nice little drawer, and the floral design is very well done for this piece!

Dimensions:   I measured but didn’t bring the dimensions home with me.  (That’s never happened before! HA!)  Anyway, I think it’s about 18″ square (probably more).

Condition:  Excellent. This little table is in really good condition, which is especially wonderful to see, given that it’s mostly white.  And we know how white shows any and all blemishes!  There is one minor flaw on the front as seen in the photos, but otherwise, it’s in great shape.

SOLD! How’s This for a Country Style Bench? Or Perhaps for Your Camp – Or Even Your Patio!

This is a very cool, very sturdy little vintage bench that someone spiffed up with a plaid seat cover.  The result is warm and inviting.  What a great place to take off your boots, drop your groceries or school books, or whatever else works!

Dimensions:  Oops.  Left the office late and forgot to bring the dimensions. (I measured a lot of furniture all at once, and of course, can’t remember a single one of them.)  Will add later, but off the top of my head I’d say it’s about 5′ long x 12″ wide by 17″ high.

Condition:  It’s in very good condition.

SOLD! This Is a Great Little Cabinet with 4 Rattan Basket Drawers

This great little cabinet has two drawers and 4 wicker/rattan baskets for easy storage.  It’s a wonderful fit for almost any decor.

Dimensions: 

  • Total Dimensions: 29.9 in. W x 13 in. D x 27.6 in. H
  • Drawer Dimensions: 13 in. W x 10.4 in. D x 4.7 in. H
  • Basket Dimensions: 12.6 in. W x 11.2 in. D x 7.1 in. H

Condition:  Other than a couple of very minor dings here and there, this cabinet is in excellent condition.  The previous owner even lined the rattan baskets with contact paper (but didn’t remove the sticky backing, so the paper just slid out with no damage to the drawers).  The contact paper itself was perfectly clean.

FIRM Price:  $94.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $5.17 for a total of $$99.17.  (I found this exact same cabinet on the Home Depot website for $189.30.)

SOLD! Super Clean, Good Quality Room-Sized Persian Rug with Muted Colors

This is a beautiful, heavy room-sized Persian rug in what appears to be perfect condition.  It’s been rolled up for a while so needs some time to “flatten out”, but other than that, I found no problems with it at all.

Dimensions:   6’7″ wide x 9’6″ long.

Condition:  Appears to be in perfect condition; I found no spots or stains on the front – or on the back, which is where they normally show.  The rug appears to be practically brand new.

FIRM Price:  $99.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales tax of $5.45 for a total of $104.45.

Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.  

Our Apologies, But Holds Over 24 Hours Must Now Provide a 50% Deposit: As we’ve gotten busier, I’m spending a great deal of time juggling multiple requests for the same item.  Most of the time, something comes up in the customer’s life that prevents him or her from getting here, but sometimes I never do here from them again. And in the meantime, other customers who are asking about the item end up moving on when the chair or art or garden statue or whatever isn’t immediately available.  So without a deposit, I’ll now have to implement a First Come, First Served policy. 

Shipping & Delivery:  Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $10.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $10.00.  Shipping is not advised as the cost could be as much as the price of the item.

SOLD. Two Lovely Victorian Era Ladies Chairs

I’m not sure why, but I have a “thing” for chairs, and have to stop myself from continuing to purchase them for the business (and for my house!).

These matching white Victorian era ladies chairs with their light blue striped upholstery are just lovely. I’d buy them from the business if I had any spare room, but alas!  Off they go to you good people, who hopefully will love them as I do.

Both chairs have casters on the front legs.

Dimensions:   35 3/4″ high x 19″ wide x 17.5″ deep.  They measure 17″ from the floor to the seat.

Condition:  Very good.  There is some light handling wear and a minor stain on one seat, but it’s minimal, especially so given their age.  There are no rips or tears in the upholstery; even underneath the seats is in good condition.  One chair has a crack on the horizontal wood piece closest to the seat, and appears to have had some repair work done.  Otherwise, these are in great condition.
