Many Uses For This Old Galvanized Washtub – How About an Herb or Mint Garden! – From Our Lawn & Garden Shop

We love mint – spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint – but it can take over a garden or lawn by spreading its rhizomes underground. This washtub would confine those pesky spreaders while still allowing you to enjoy them.

Condition:   Using as an outside garden decoration or raised bed would be the best use for this washtub as it does have some rust inside, which has created a very tiny little hole in one area… and you’ll want to drill more holes for drainage anyway.

I just did some quick research and learned a lot about how to repair and use galvanized washtubs that have some rust.  It’s really not as big a problem as I feared it might be.

For a gardener, it’s well worth the investment.  Here’s another article on using this old washtub, as a raised bed:  https://www.bucket-outlet.com/Galvanized-Containers-For-Gardening.htm#Raised-Beds-In-Galvanized-Tubs

In fact, the more I read about using this tub, the more I think I may just buy it off the business for my personal use!  But for now, it’s still for sale.

Dimensions:   about 11″ high x 24″ diameter (top)

Price:  $15.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.

(I bought it via the on-line portion of a  Bangor-area auction, sight unseen, except for the photo above.  It seems that someone who was actually present at the sale wanted it almost as much as I did, as I paid rather more for the tub than one might expect at a country auction.  In fact, at this price, I will definitely lose money, but it makes no sense to overprice it, when you can purchase a new galvanized tub for about $20 more!)

Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm.

Shipping & Delivery:
Free local pickup.  We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00. Shipping for this item is not recommended as the cost would be prohibitive for the value.
