This hutch (known as a breakfront) is GORGEOUS. Timeless, elegant and very solid, you won’t find a better piece for the money.
What’s a breakfront? Well, it’s an older term for a large cabinet or bookcase whose center section projects out beyond the sections to either side (meaning the center section is deeper than the two side sections).
Although it’s large, it was made in two sections (a top and a bottom). My husband and I were able to move each section without bringing in additional help, but I would definitely suggest two strong people do the moving. It’s located in the gallery area of the shop, and is a straight shoot out to the alley where you can park for moving purposes… no stairs.
DIMENSIONS: 81.5″ H x 69.75″ wide x 21″ deep.
CONDITION: The glass is unmarred, and the piece has all of its shelving intact. It is easier to move than it might seem as the top section is separate and rests on the bottom half.
There are two drawers below the glassed upper section. As the photos below show, the left hand drawer is lined and probably intended for silverware. The right hand drawer is unlined.
Other: The breakfront does have some very minor dings and scratches. The bottom cabinet area is missing one of the four pieces of hardware, as seen in the picture below. Otherwise, this piece is in great shape.
PRICE: Originally just $400.00, we reduced the price to $250.00 once the matching table and chairs were sold. The price has been reduced again to $200.00, because the piece is big and takes up too much room at the shop!

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – it was his baby.
He loved me, and oh how I loved him.
