The husband and dogs are asleep, the house is quiet, I have a great locally roasted coffee at the ready, and I’m messing around looking at vintage New Year’s photos.
Really, how happy do you think I am?!
While many may have taken up a chorus of Auld Lang Syne as the clock struck midnight on the new year, few likely knew the meaning of the words first put to paper by Robbie Burns back in 1788. The old Scots phrase Auld Lang Syne literally translates to “old long since,” a paean to the memories of days gone by. In honor of this fond remembrance of bygone times, let’s welcome in 2014 with this collection of twenty-five vintage photos of New Years past. Cheers, and fondest wishes for a happy new year from the whole TYoH team!
