Unusual Display Piece for SOLD! Your Shop or Trade Show Booth – It’s Shaped Like a Tree!

02-12-tree

I bought this display piece shaped like a tree a couple of years ago from a lady who once made and sold very cool handmade pocketbooks and backpacks.  I planned to use it to display the dozens of pocketbooks we’d picked up during our various clean-outs.

It’s never been used for that, although I suppose it still could be, since when I re-open Papa’s Thrift Shop (which probably won’t be for a few more weeks) it could be used then.

However, you know what the organizing gurus say – if it hasn’t been used in a year or so, you probably don’t need it.  So here it is, for sale!

Condition:  Excellent!  The tree is free-standing (as long as you “corner” it), made of plywood, and comes in 4 parts, held together by the metal pieces you can see in the middle.  You should be prepared to take it apart because I plan to leave it as is until (if) it sells.

Dimensions: It’s about 7’H x 2.5’W at the top (on each side).

Price:  $75.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

SOLD! Brown / Natural Wicker Plant Stand

02-12-wicker-plant-stand

I love this wicker plant stand. I especially love that it is a “natural” brown color, rather than white.

Condition:  Very good.  There are a couple of areas where the wicker has dried out a bit, but overall it’s in great shape.

Dimensions:  As usual, I forgot to measure it when taking the photos and am writing this from home.  But I think it’s about 3 feet high and a foot across at its widest point, although it probably only fits a plant pot that’s about 6″ in diameter.

Price:  $12.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Please note: The shop at 189 Main Street in Lewiston is closed from September 1-25, 2017 while Linda visits her daughter, son-in-law and new grandson!

Some Quick Details:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on the prices listed in our blogs… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We used to when we first opened the shops, and found that too often the person asking us to hold an item never came back and we lost sales in the interim to someone who was standing there with cash in hand. Obviously, that’s not good business.
  • Questions.  This is tough… I’d like to be responsive to everyone who has questions, but I work full time as a social worker, and full time at this shop hoping that someday it will make enough money so I can retire from that social work job.  This means I have very limited time to respond to questions, especially if those questions have already been answered in this blog or on our various posts.  So I may not have time to respond…
  • Dealers. We’re happy to talk to you!  Please remember to bring a copy of your State Resellers License.

SOLD! Antique Dome or Camel Back Trunk

trunk-antique trunk-antique-inside-showing-colors-close-up trunk-antique-front-with-damage

We pulled this trunk out of an old farmhouse in Harpswell. It’s a pretty cool piece that comes complete with the top sectioned shelf for shoes or boots, or hats, or whatever, that one expects of a trunk of this type.

Condition:  Good.  It has some minor damage and obvious wear & tear as the pictures show, but given its age (at least about 125 years old), it’s in pretty decent condition.

Dimensions: Coming soon.  About 2.5’H x 3’W.

Price:  $80.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)  The typical price of a dome top trunk is in the $100-$200 range, but this piece takes up a fair amount of room that I need for other inventory, so it’s being priced to sell!

Quick Details About Us:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on our prices… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.

SOLD! Antique/Vintage Wood Dresser with Peg Holes

dresser-vintage-with-peg-holes

This is a good, solid antique wooden dresser with 4 drawers.  At one time it had molding – perhaps with a mirror – around the sides and back, but all that’s left are the holes that held the molding in place.

Condition:  Very good, but some customers will likely want to refinish it or use it for a project piece.

Dimensions: Coming soon.  About 3’H x 3’W.

Price:  $65.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

This is a good, basic dresser with four large drawers and a fiberboard back which means it’s lighter in weight (and less expensive) than it would otherwise be given its size.

A while back we picked up these two totes filled with large amounts of string and yarn on spools – at least, that’s what I originally thought they were.

We Have Loads of Military History Books!

military-shelves-of-booksmilitary-shelves-of-books-4 military-shelves-of-books-3

My husband John was an avid military history fan, driven in part by his decades of work as a subcontractor for the Navy (he installed & repaired survival systems on Navy ships, and also trained sailors on those systems).

So anytime we heard of a collection of military history books, he was right there, picking out the best of the lot.  Presently we have more than 6 shelves of such books in the shop; there are at least another 50 or so books waiting to be shelved.

There are too many titles to list here at this time; I do hope to update this blog with some of the more interesting titles soon.

Condition:  Most are in excellent condition.

Prices:  Prices vary widely and are individual to the book.

This Stunning Chaise Lounge Is Just Meant for Comfort!

Large Chaise 6 Large Chaise 4 Large Chaise 5

This chaise has gotten lots of attention over the past couple of years, but is still looking for its permanent home.  The main reason our customer have offered for not rushing it right into that special space in their living room, master bedroom, or wherever, is that it’s just too big.  Which is terribly sad because this lounge is so comfy and feels so delicious…

Stretching out or curling up on this stunning chaise lounge feels like lying in the lap of luxury!

Chaise “lounge” is actually a more popularized term for the original French chaise “longue”, which is a chair with an extended seat for stretching out the legs. Mirriam Webster says the term chaise lounge first came into use around 1906.

This chaise has the cosmetically – and structurally – wonderful feature of not being perfectly flat… the center is raised somewhat to give an added sense of comfort for one’s legs (you just want to settle in and never leave) as well as a more inviting visual appeal.

Condition:  Structurally it’s in great shape.  It does have a couple of cosmetic flaws, though.  The webbing underneath has been torn in places, and there’s an unexpected separation between the bed and the back of the lounge, which isn’t seen when the pillows are in place, and doesn’t seem to affect the solidity, structure – or comfort – of the lounge.

It’s that latter flaw, however, that has brought the price of this item down from  the $400.00 we’d initially planned to price it at, to an amazingly low $175.00! (We’re told the piece originally was on the market for $1000.00!)

Dimensions:  Needs to be measured but is approximately 6’L by 2.5’W.

Price:  $175.00!   Maine State Sales Tax of 5.5% applies.

SOLD! Nice Red & White Wingback

wingback-red-white

This classic red & white wingback is a great accent piece, and despite the somewhat lumpy cushion, is actually surprisingly comfortable once one settles in to it.

Condition:  Structurally, the chair is in very good condition.  It has definitely faded on the sides and the back, and the cushion (as mentioned above) is rather lumpy although it looks great.  The price reflects these issues.

Dimensions: About 42″H x 30″W x 28″D

Price:

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – it was his baby.

He loved me, and oh how I loved him.

NOTE:  With the exception of books, maps & music, most of our antique and other inventory can now be found at the Undercover Antique Mall in Oxford.  FMI:  https://heritagecollectiblesmaine.com/details-hours/

We hope you will enjoy our revamped shop, as well as our booth in Oxford, as you did our original retail space on Main Street.

For those dying to check out the revamped Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps, we are still in the same building, but our new entrance is at the back of that building.

Just enter 9 Park Street, Lewiston into your GPS and park in the nearest available spot.  Our entrance is through the door at the end of the building on the right hand side.  You’ll see signs in the windows (“Retail Store” and “Heritage Collectibles” and “Antiques” as well as others; you’ll also see my silver Jeep Liberty parked nearby.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us since August of 2014!

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially the section we called Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – that was his baby.

He loved me like crazy, and oh how I loved him.

Follow our blog at https://warrior-project.org, in honor of my husband, and all others who have been lost to internal demons that in the end, overwhelmed them.

All of the profits after expenses from Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps will go to help fund The Grief Warrior Project, a suicide prevention drop-in and counseling center in the process of being developed.

(Please Note: The Grief Warrior Project is in no way intended to be reflective of, or piggy back off, Wounded Warriors which serves those military personnel wounded after September 11, 20o1.  Like too many others, John was a warrior long before then.)
