Artist of the Month – Katie Theriault!

We’re pleased to introduce Katie Theriault as our featured ArtWalk artist of the month… she’s definitely our most popular artist to date – three of the 8 paintings she brought to the shop just this morning have sold already!  (The Lotus, the Giraffe and the Elephants.)

Here’s what Katie has to say about herself:

I am a self-taught artist and I paint as a hobby and stress reliever. I don’t have a particular painting style.  I have been painting since a teenager and continue to improve and learn things as I go.

My late Grandfather was an amazing artist and watching him as a child inspired me to follow in his footsteps. I would like to think that he would be proud of me if he were still here.

As always, if you’re coming from any distance, please give me a call ahead of time to ensure I’ll be open… if our hours don’t work with your schedule and if I can possibly swing it, I can be available some mornings before 10:00.  Most afternoons through the evening, I’m at my social work job until at least 8:00 pm but I could possibly open up after I get out of work.

SOLD! Vintage / Antique Red Desk & Chair Set

I love this smallish antique desk and chair set.  It’s so very different than anything else I’ve ever seen!

Condition:   The chair is in excellent shape.  The desk has some dings and cracks, with the most obvious being the back panel, which is wobbly and cracked.

Dimensions:  Coming soon!

Price:  $65.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Please note: The shop will be closed from September 1-25 while Linda visits her daughter and son-in-law for the birth of her first biological grandchild!  Prices on many items are being reduced prior to that time (although not this item, which is being offered for the first time), to help get the shop cleared and organized, and ready for new inventory when Linda returns – in time for the holiday season.

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on the prices listed in our blogs… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We used to when we first opened the shops, and found that too often the person asking us to hold an item never came back and we lost sales in the interim to someone who was standing there with cash in hand. Obviously, that’s not good business.
  • Questions.  This is tough… I’d like to be responsive to everyone who has questions, but I work full time as a social worker, and full time at this shop hoping that someday it will make enough money so I can retire from that social work job.  This means I have very limited time to respond to questions, especially if those questions have already been answered in this blog or on our various posts.  So I may not have time to respond…
  • Dealers. We’re happy to talk to you!  Please remember to bring a copy of your State Resellers License.

SOLD! Large & Sturdy Handmade Toy Box

If your kids need a large sturdy toy box with loads of storage, and a great cushioned lid perfect for sitting on, here it is!  Or use it to store fabric, blankets or anything else you don’t want cluttering a room.

Condition:  This storage box / toy box was handmade about 20 years ago, and is still in excellent shape.

Dimensions:   21″H x 20″D x 40″W.

SOLD! Butcher Block Table or Desk with Two Drawers, Price Reduced More Than Half!

This is a great two drawer desk or table with a butcher block style top.

Condition:  It’s in pretty good shape, without a lot of dings or scratches.  There is some apparent minor damage to the bottom of the leg on the left side facing the desk.  And the legs need tightening up, but that should be a minor detail.

Please note: the shading of the right leg in the photo is only a shadow from my less than stellar photography

Dimensions:   29″H x 19.5″D x 48″W.

Price:  Reduced!  It was $95.00; now it’s just $45.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Annual Reports, Town of Pownal ME

New or established residents of Pownal will surely find these town reports scintillating reading!  (Seriously…. we love this kind of stuff!)

Years include:  1983, 1984 (2 copies), 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 (2), 1991, 1992 (2), 1993, 1994 (2), 1995 (3), 1996, 1997, 1998 (2), 2000, and 2008-2009 (2).

Condition:  Mostly very good to excellent. 

Prices:  $8.00 each or the whole lot of 25 volumes for just $50.00!  (That’s just under $3.00 each for the unduplicated editions, with the duplicates thrown in for good measure.)

Annual Report, Town of Windham ME – 1967

Whoa….  Someone on Amazon is selling the 1998 Annual Report of the Town of Windham Maine for $12.00 plus $3.99 shipping!  Our copy is much more interesting since it’s more than 30 years older… and it’s only $8.00!

Each individual book on Amazon ranges between $12-$30, plus shipping.  (Someone is selling the whole set, including Volume 1, which we’re missing, for $40.00 plus shipping; someone else is selling the same set for $75.00 plus shipping!)

SOLD! Mission Style Desk in Need of Refurbishing

This is a nice sized mission style desk that could use some refinishing.

Condition:  It’s in pretty good shape, although it’s missing one of the slats on the side..

Dimensions:   Coming soon.

Price:  $24.00.   (Plus the obligatory 5.5% State of Maine Sales Tax, of course.)

Quick Details:

  • Prices Are Firm.  We do not negotiate on our prices… they’re set based on what the item cost us and our expenses in running the shop.
  • Sales. We do occasionally have sales or reduce the prices on an item (usually if the item has been in the shop for at least 6 months with plenty of marketing).  If so, that reduced price will be posted.
  • Holding Items.  Sorry, not without payment.  We’ve been screwed on this more than once, and won’t do it any more.
  • Questions.  This is tough… I’d like to be responsive to everyone who has questions, but I work full time as a social worker, and full time at this shop hoping that someday it will make enough money so I can retire from that social work job.  This means I have very limited time to respond to questions, especially if those questions have already been answered in this blog or on our various posts.  So I may not have time to respond…
