Once upon a time, there was a well-known restaurant in Waterville (ME) called The Silent Woman… possibly everyone in the entire state had eaten there at some point!

The restaurant is no more but we do have one of their small wooden wall plaques!

Condition:   Very good. There is some minor damage to the top as seen in the close up below.

Dimensions:  12″H x 7″W.

SOLD! Vintage Metal Ikebana Florists Frogs

I got this great set of 9 vintage metal florists frogs at an auction a couple of weeks back. It’s been years since I’ve made any serious attempts at creating ikebana arrangements, but these certainly reminded me to pull out my own supplies.

One of the pieces is hinged (see above) and can be arranged to suit your pleasure.  There’s a 10th piece that’s not familiar to me (as seen in the photo above and those below), although that’s probably only because I messed around with florals rather than pursuing it seriously.

Condition:   Excellent.  Very solid and heavy.

Price:  $40.00 for the lot.  (Plus the usual 5.5% Maine State Sales tax, of course.)

SOLD! Overstuffed 1960s Era Chair with Yellow Floral Fabric

We have a pretty comfy overstuffed chair with 1960s-era yellow floral fabric.  Structurally the chair’s in great condition.  Unfortunately a beloved cat was allowed to scratch the front of the chair (or snuck in some scratches before being chased off), and there’s damage to the fabric in front, as the pictures below show.

Condition:   Would be excellent except for those pesky clawed areas.

I don’t know what style this would be called… Kodiak? Outback?

SOLD! Mid Century Modern Couch and Two Chairs

We recently acquired this wonderful Mid Century Modern couch and two matching chairs via a house clean out.  The frames are in great condition although the cushions need to be completely recovered… the fabric’s in pretty sad shape.

If the set hasn’t sold in the next week or so, we’re taking it to an auctioneer as we just don’t have room in the shop (or our garage) for the three pieces, and we really need to make room.  (Even so, we’re still kind of tempted to buy the set from the shop for our own personal use!)

Condition:  The frames are in very good condition although they could use a good paste wax or something to brighten them up.  The fabric of the cushions, as mentioned above, are in sad shape.

GONE! Curb Alert- More Free Stuff!

Free stuff in the alley behind Heritage Collectibles (189 Main Street, Lewiston) and Papa’s Thrift Shop (5 Park Street, Lewiston).  The alley is at the end of the building on the Park Street side, right after Papa’s.

All different stuff.  Everything that had previously been out there is gone; replaced with the following items:

  • a small fake Christmas tree in a box
  • an entertainment center
  • crutches
  • three large wall pictures
  • a lawn chair
  • a small older television
  • two suitcases, and
  • miscellaneous items

The pictures are dark because I took them about 9:3o tonight.  It’s dark out then!

Please be respectful and don’t make a mess or take the television apart in the alley.  My landlord parks there and he’s been really really good to us, but he doesn’t like to see a mess there.  Thank you!

Here’s a nice set of lighthouse dishes, consisting of 8 pieces each of plates, bread plates, soup bowls and cups!

We don’t usually acquire dish sets anymore because they don’t sell very well, but these are LIGHTHOUSES!

Vintage music or magazine cabinet; this was used as a plant stand on a front porch, so is now rather rough.  The top needs to be reglued or reattached somehow..
