As I’m continuing to organize the books at the shop, I’m trying to dispose of the kinds of books that just don’t sell well for us – and that includes diet books.

We have about 4 dozen of the most popular hardcover and trade paperback diet and weight loss books, including several by Suzanne Somers.  (And there may be more packed away in boxes that I haven’t opened yet.)

Price:  Just 50c each or $10.00 for the whole lot seen here.  (Just one hardcover alone can be found at the major bookstores for $15- $20!)   Plus 5.5% State of Maine sales tax.

Condition:  Excellent; most are like new.

Update:  The entire lot has been donated to SeniorsPlus on Mollison Way in Lewiston.  The books are on display in their lobby, and free.  Take one, take them all.  (Just not my blue display cart!)

Social Mentor Publications – 6 Titles Including “Sex: Avoided Subjects Discussed in Plain English” and “Physical Beauty: How to Develop and Preserve It”, 1922

These six little booklets from 1922 are interesting reads.  What a difference 100 years makes!

Titles:
1) Sex: Avoided Subjects in Plain English

3) How to Prepare and Serve a Meal, and Interior Decoration
4) The Book of Culture
5) Color Harmony and Design in Dress
6) How to Make Money

Each booklet is 64 pages, and has a paper cover.

Condition:  They’re nearly 100 years old, so there are some discolorations and the paper bindings aren’t firm on some of the books.  However, they are still in great shape, given their age.

SOLD! Books: 4 on Astrology by Martha Lang-Wescott

Because I don’t know anything about astrology (other than I’m apparently a typical Aries), I was amazed to learn from a dear relative and friend that Martha Lang-Wescott’s books are highly sought after.  And then when I looked up the value of these, I found that the price definitely reflects that.

This set consists of 3 bound, over-sized trade paperbacks, and a fourth book set up in a loose-leaf binder.

Condition: Two of the books (The Circles of Light and Mechanics of the Future: Asteroids) have been heavily used.  The bindings are intact but there’s a great deal of wear as the photos show.  Angles of Prediction is in very good to excellent condition.

Angular Dialogues comes with a plastic overlay chart; all of the paper pages are already hole-punched.  The binder is broken but as it’s just a binder from a local office goods store you can replace it however you’d like.

Prices:  Unlike many books, these are going for about the same or MORE on Amazon, than buying the book directly from the publisher!

For those dying to check out the revamped Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps, we are still in the same building, but our new entrance is at the back of that building.  

Just enter 9 Park Street, Lewiston into your GPS and park in the nearest available spot.  Our entrance is through the door at the end of the building on the right hand side.  You’ll see signs in the windows (“Retail Store” and “Heritage Collectibles” and “Antiques” as well as others; you’ll also see my silver Jeep Liberty parked nearby.

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially the section we called Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – that was his baby.

He loved me like crazy, and oh how I loved him.
