Here’s a basic aluminum stepladder… 5 feet high, three steps, with the extra surface for paint cans (which this has clearly been used for) or tools.
Condition: Seems to be in good condition, although it does have paint splatters as shown in the photos.
Price: $40.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $2.20 for a total of $42.20.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Shipping this item is not recommended because the cost to value ratio would be prohibitive. We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00. Shipping via USPS is $50.00.
Coffee table, cocktail table, what do you call it?
According to one source, coffee tables – although apparently around for centuries – really came into being in the 1950s, when televisions began to make their appearance in everyday homes. Coffee tables are low enough to set one’s beverage down and still be able to see your TV show while sitting on the couch in the living room. (And don’t forget “Coffee Table Books”, those oversized tomes filled with fascinating travel, art or what-have-you photos.)
While that may all be changing now, as televisions are increasingly installed in bedrooms, and other customs have replaced the family in the living room, there’s still a need for surfaces for laptops and other items that might not survive resting on a sofa if you head to the bathroom or the kitchen for a few minutes! (At least, not in my house, with dogs who use the furniture more than I do!)
So…
This set consists of 3 matching pieces (a brass & glass coffee table and two end tables), a smaller brass & glass table that is not part of that first set (it has rounded, rather than square edges), and two lamps that are very ’60s/early ’70s as you can see from the photos.
The smaller side table is presently missing its glass top, although I’m certain it was there when the U-Haul was packed. So the guys on this end who unpacked it, probably put it somewhere safe, but I can’t presently find it.
The lamps are, well, kitschy/tacky, which makes them so much fun. Each has several hanging panels that are bordered in a gold metal, with 2 small lights below and a larger light above. The 3-way lights work. The two small flame-shaped bulbs don’t light; I don’t yet know if they don’t work, or if the light bulbs have burned out. I thought I had taken photos of the lamps without the shades, showing the glass panels (9 on each lamp) hanging off the hooks you see, but apparently not.
Condition: Coffee table and two matching end/lamp tables: Good, used cpndition. Small side table: Glass top is currently missing as noted above. Lamps: Note above comments. The shades were originally quite expensive and are still in excellent shape. I don’t know if the lower set of night light-type lights work or not (it may be that the bulbs have burned out). And the gold metal trim on 3 or 4 of the hanging panels is detaching, so will need a metal glue that will hold them in place.
Dimensions: 1 coffee table – 40″ L x 15″ H x 16″ D 2 end/lamp tables – 25″ L x 17.5″ H x 16″ D 1 small side table – 9.5″ W x 19″ H x 15″ D 2 lamps – about 30″ H with the shades
Price: The entire set of 6 pieces: $95.00 – or- Coffee table & 2 side/lamp tables: $75.00 Small side table: $10.00 Lamps (2): $40.00

This is a nice old French Provincial style set; the pieces have mostly aged pretty graciously.
The 1/2″ shaped marble slab readily lifts off the table frame (well, if you’re strong enough to do so) and could easily be used for some other purpose if you so desired… be careful, as it is HEAVY.
I have what appears to be the original sales receipt for the two end tables; in 1966, they cost $69.95 each!
Please excuse the photos; we just got a lot of furniture in, and we are packed! There’s not much available room to show off the pieces or take good photos.
Condition: Marble Topped Coffee Table: The marble is in excellent condition. The supporting table frame has some dings, but they aren’t noticeable. Two Fruitwood Side (also called Step) Tables: Mostly in very good condition but both have what appear to be old cigarette burns on the top (please see photos). Those would easily be covered with lamps, or books, etc. There are a couple of other dings here and there.
Dimensions: Marble Topped Coffee Table: about 44″L x 23″D x 16″H. The marble slab is about 1/2″ thick. Two Fruitwood Side Tables: 30″L x 20″W x 24″H. (The main surface is about 14″H.) The drawer in each side table are about 1 1/2″ deep.
Price: All three pieces: $90.00 for the set, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $4.95 for a total of $94.95. Marble Topped Coffee Table: $65.00, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $3.58 for a total of $68.58. Two Fruitwood Side Tables: $40.00 for the pair, plus Maine State Sales Tax of $2.20 for a total of $42.20.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Shipping this set is not recommended because the cost to value ratio would be prohibitive: the marble alone is extraordinarily heavy and would have to go via a freight company. Because of this, we are unable to deliver the coffee table; it takes two strong individuals to carry that marble. Your best bet is to pick it up yourself… and bring a buddy for help!
I don’t know the age of these two His and Hers chairs, but they were eventually reupholstered in the green plush/velvet that you now see. There’s a tag under the shorter, squarish chair with the name of an upholsterer in New Hampshire, and what appears to be the date: 5/85.
Both chairs have those wonderful brass studs along the back and other edges. The feet are the same, so they did originally come as a pair.
Please excuse the photos… we’ve gotten a lot of furniture in, and are running out of room, so you’ll see other furniture in the background at times. Also, I don’t know the colors are off in some photos, the chairs are almost a pine (deep) green, not the bluish turquoise-y green it seems to show up as.
Condition: Both chairs are in used, excellent condition.
Dimensions: His (the square one): 30″W x 30″D x 18″ to the seat, and 31″ H Hers (the more prim wingback): 25″W x 30″D x 16″ to the seat x 40″ H.
Price: For both: $250.00. Individually: … The wingback: $195.00. … The squarish chair: $95.00 Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax, of course.

We love sea horses, but had no idea until writing this blog that there’s a huge black market in illegal seahorse skeleton sales.
If you ever come across a seahorse skeleton, please be aware that they are illegal to sell and that the animal – and thousands more – may have suffered for someone’s profit.

Neither the auction house I obtained these beauties from, nor I, have been able to determine the designer or maker of these four chairs, which are in near perfect condition.
The auction house told me they’d spent a huge amount of time researching the chairs, which have no label, tag or other identifier. I’ve been through thousands of photographs on-line of Eames chairs, Plycraft and even MCM knock-offs, and also tried a search through Google Lens (which will match an uploaded photo to what it finds in its own database), with no luck.
So I presently have no idea who created these, which are clearly reminiscent of Eames, Herman Miller, Plycraft, and other designers and producers of sleek plywood Mid Century Modern Chairs.
Condition: Very good to excellent. One chair has some minor scratches on the back, as seen in the photos; the underside of the seat on another has some splitting. Otherwise, these chairs are in beautiful condition.
Dimensions: 29″ to the top of the chairs’ backs.
Price: As of right now, with no further information available on these chairs, the price is $595.00 for all four. However, if we find they are some kind of holy grail of MCM furniture, the price may go up considerably! 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax is $32.73, for a total of $627.73.
Unless we’re having a sale, which would be listed here, our prices are firm. Shipping & Delivery: Shipping these may not be recommended because the cost to value ratio could be prohibitive. We can deliver within Lewiston-Auburn (ME) for a $15.00 delivery fee, or Gray/Portland (along the 202 Route, or just off it) early Wednesday mornings for the same $15.00. Shipping would be approximately $40 per chair.
