I recently obtained this bed set via a nice little estate sale where I was able to pick up a fair amount of good clean furniture. Unfortunately for me, I really should have let someone else take this set as I have absolutely NO room for it at the office, and have had to move it to my personal garage in Auburn. It really needs to go!

As the photos show, it’s Bob-O-Pedic and comes complete with the rails and some linens.

By the way, it is possible for one person to haul the mattress and box spring. I’m officially a “senior citizen” (how on earth did that happen?), and I was able to move both pieces all by myself.

Condition:   Everything appears to be in excellent shape. The mattress is enclosed in plastic to keep it clean, and the box spring looks good.

Dimensions:  I’ll have to measure but it’s an extra long twin size, as is used in college dorms.

Check out these 8 plexiglass/Lucite pedestals! We have 6 tall rounded ones and 2 that are smaller and square.

So versatile, they can be used as plant stands (just think of how philodendrons, spider plants, ivy or asparagus ferns would be highlighted on these!) or perhaps for other items you’d like to display. The possibilities are endless – your imagination is the limit! This is another one of our finds at the florist shop in Boston that closed due to the owners’ retirement.

The pedestals are transparent and notice that some have square tops and bottoms, and others are round. They do have some scratches, as is expected due to use.

Condition:  These are in good, used condition with no breaks or chips, although as mentioned, they have scratches from use.

Dimensions:  Round pedestals are 32″ high x 10″ wide/deep. Square pedestals are 21″ high x 10″ square.

SOLD! Lovely Mahogany Tilt Top Table With Pie Crust Edging

Here’s a round pie crust tilt top table!

Constructed of mahogany, this Victorian style table is likely a well made reproduction of an 18th century pie crust table, and it’s in super shape.

Pedestal tables like this are usually on three legs, with a round or oval top, trimmed with a raised, scalloped edge that looks like the crimped rim of a pie crust. The edging can be either carved or molded, and the top often tilts up making for easy storage against a wall in small homes.

Condition:   It’s in very good used condition with no noted damage.

Dimensions:  22″ Diameter x 26″ High

SOLD! A Stylish Addition to Your Living Room – Vintage Henredon Console Table

You may or may not have heard of Henredon furniture, but the company was founded in 1945 by four furniture makers – Henry Wilson, Ralph Edwards, Donnell VanOppen and Sterling Collet. The name Henredon is a combination of Henry, Ralph Edwards and Donnell (wonder why Sterling didn’t get any representation).

We found this wonderful table at a florist shop in Boston that was closing after years in business, due to the owners’ retirement. It’s constructed of mahogany wood and beveled glass. Note the interesting artistic design which helps to support the glass. It needs to be refurbished, but with a little love, just think how nice this will look! There are no chips or cracks in the beveled glass.

The Henredon mission has always been to create quality constructed furniture that will last for generations, as is the case with this well loved console table.

Condition:  Structurally, it’s solid. Visually, it looks great until you get up close and can see what may be water damage to the top, under and around where the glass insert is. It seems likely that the table was used to display plants, with the resulting water leaks. There are some other dings and blemishes to the wood as is likely to happen to older furniture.

Dimensions:  51″ wide x 14″ deep x 28″ high

Enjoy a touch of the outdoors with this wonderful life-like flowering tree.

Perfect for those cold winter days when you are hoping for spring.

We found this in a florist’s shop in Boston that was closing due to the owners’ retirement. The tree has white flower bouquets, and although some of the flowers have fallen off, there doesn’t appear to be any other damage.

Condition:   It’s in good used condition, albeit somewhat dusty.

SOLD! A Quaint Addition to Your Kitchen, Pantry, Mudroom… An Amish-Crafted Jelly Cabinet

Constructed by Amish craftsmen, specializing in wood furniture, jelly cabinets were usually made of wood and sporting multiple, shallow shelves to hold jarred goods. Jam cupboards were found in many American households. Using a jelly cupboard during the 19th century entailed placing the jam and jelly jars inside to ensure proper storage.

This piece is marked, “Amish crafted” and “Borkholder”

As you can see, it needs some TLC but if you choose to refurbish the piece, it will be an awesome addition to your household.

Condition:   Structurally, it’s in very good, used condition. Visually, you’ll see there are significant water stains, although they don’t detract from the cabinet’s usability.

Dimensions:  48″ high x 26″ wide x 14 1/2″ deep

SOLD. 2 Vintage (1940s era) Alligator Leather Purses

This was such a weird auction purchase for me. I’ve been a vegetarian for nearly 45 years, and close to vegan for the past few years. So the idea of buying two 80 year old alligator bags complete with their little heads and feet, should have been a “No Way!”. After all, I won’t touch fur with the proverbial 10-foot pole.

But I looked at those little faces and something about them seemed so touching – almost sweet, even! (Yeah, I know. You’re definitely getting strange in your old age, Linda!)

So I bid, and I won them. And here they are. Two vintage/antique alligator skin taxidermied purses, from the 1940s. I even found a few S&H Green Stamps in one of the bags! (If that doesn’t date it, nothing will!)

The larger one is stamped “Genuine Alligator. Made in Florida USA” inside. The stamp on the smaller one is somewhat worn off; all I can read is “Genuine —, Made in Cuba”.

The larger purse has a small zippered pocket inside. The smaller one has a small zippered pocket and an exterior flap that hides another pocket / compartment.

Condition:   Both purses are in excellent condition, although the straps on the smaller one are a bit worn with some cracking.  However, compared to others found on-line, these are in superior shape!  The small bag also has a blemish of some kind on the top left, but it almost appears original with the bag.

Dimensions:  The large bag is 12″ wide by 9″ high by 4″ deep (across the bottom).  The small bag is 10″ wide by 7″ high by 3 1/2″ deep.

FIRM Prices:  The large bag is $115.00; the small one is $85.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.  Buy both for $160.00.  Please promise to love and respect them!

Vintage Mid Century “Penguin” Ice Bucket – From Our Kitchen Shop

Remember the little Penguin ice buckets? This is just adorable with the row of penguins marching across the front. Now you can have one for that shiny retro feel!

Condition:   Appears to be in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or damage found.

Dimensions:  Not measured, but it’s probably about 9-10″ in diameter excluding the handles.

FIRM Price:  $20.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.10, for a total of $21.10.

And in the meantime, other customers who are asking about the item end up moving on when the chair or art or garden statue or whatever isn’t immediately available.  So without a deposit, I’ll now have to implement a First Come, First Served policy.

SOLD! A Great, Inexpensive Set of Lawn Furniture! From Our Lawn & Garden Shop

I picked this set up at an auction last month, and just yesterday (April 7) put it outside to take a better look at it. Sure made it seem like summer in Maine is on its way!

The set consists of 2 upright folding chairs and two folding chaises, as well as the cushions you can see in the above photos and those below.

The birdbath on the left is not for sale. The one on the right is, although it does have a crack in it and I’m not yet sure if it will hold water, although even if it doesn’t, it would make a great planter! Information on that item is coming soon!

Condition:   The set is in overall good condition although there are some dings and blemishes, which you can see in the photos.  Also, since taking the photos, I’ve washed all the cushions, but because they’ve been outside, the outside stains just do not come out as well as one might like.  However, they are clean! 

(By the way, the dark spot in the upper right hand corner of the cushions on the two chaise lounges is the logo of the company that produced the cushions.  It’s not a damaged area.)

Dimensions:  I haven’t measured them as they are standard lawn chair sizes.
