Our court jester (or lutist) – which I picked up at an estate sale in Kennebunk – makes me smile every time.

We picked up this wonderfully comfortable wide-armed red chair at an auction a while back; it’s been in storage ever since because the shop just didn’t have room for it.

Now that we’ve expanded, the chair is on display and ready to sell. But man, is it ever comfortable.  I’d love to keep it but my house has no more room and besides, this is a business, not a hobby, right?

At just $95, this is the perfect chair to watch television in, or to curl up with a great book on a cold winter’s day.

Also, please be aware that vintage and antique items are unlikely to be in factory condition, so if you aren’t used to buying antique or vintage items – and are in fact looking for a pristine, unused item – a new reproduction may be better suited for you.
We ordinarily do not “clean up” items because such cleaning may detract from their value.
We are specific and honest in our descriptions because we want happy buyers who will return and/or refer their friends!

Our New Heritage Gallery & Classroom – In Progress!

As mentioned in our last post, we’re wicked excited to announce the upcoming Grand Opening of our expanded shop which will nearly double the floor space of our present shop… the Heritage Gallery will be open soon, right next door (enter through Heritage Collectibles, just as you currently do).

As you can sort of see from the pictures, we’ll be able to better showcase some of our larger pieces of artwork, as well as have room for the furniture that customers have been asking for!  The Heritage Gallery is still being pulled together, but we expect that by Black Friday, it will be pretty super groovy cool, for your browsing pleasure!

You can also see the beginning of our great classroom space, which can easily hold 12-15 people.  (Look at those vintage kitchen chairs… I remember growing up with some very similar ones!)

In our current space, we’ll have a little book nook, where customers can comfortably scan through our vintage and first edition books, as well some that may not be all that old, but are just plain interesting.

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum!

Okay, so we don’t have a bottle of rum in the shop (although there are days when it sounds like a BRILLIANT idea), but we did decide to replace our boring “Open” sign with something a lot more fun… take a look at our Jolly Roger!

Yes, we’re sort of celebrating Halloween with the old skull and crossbones (and will have pirate-themed giveaways for the kiddos on October 31st, so come on over!), but it means more to us than that… we’ve celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day for years and even got married on that day (September 19), and had a pirate-themed wedding reception. Take a look at our wedding cake:

Despite Talk Like a Pirate Day (and our anniversary) being several weeks ago, we don’t see why we can’t carry the theme forward to Halloween… after all, good old fashioned pirates and their loot could certainly be considered antiques, right?
