
The first two cows we had on the farm when I was growing up were named (by my sister and me) Daisy and Bessey. (The bull was called, creatively enough, Bulley.)
One of the girls was a Holstein; the other was a Guernsey. Bulley… for some reason I remember him as all black, which may mean he was the first of my father’s years of raising Black Angus. It was a very long time ago, so I’m a bit foggy on it all!
In any event, in keeping with my penchant for naming almost anything in the shape of an animal, I present to you, Daisy.: a 20 pound vintage cast iron cow, which will hold open the most challenging of doors, or just stand there looking all cow-like for your viewing pleasure.
Condition: She’s in excellent condition for her age, whatever that may be.
Dimensions: She’s about 11″ high by 17″ long by 6 1/2″ deep.
