Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Chicken Soup, and More!

I have no idea how many women’s studies, family systems, books on sex, grief, suicide, psychology, sociology, philosophy etc etc we have.  As you might be able to see, the bookshelves in our support group room were filled… and then I began unpacking.  More, and more, and even more.

The mental health, social work, cultural and spirituality section has definitely doubled… and who knows what else is in the 150 boxes still to be unpacked!

Oh, by the way, we have dozens of Chicken Soup for the anyone-who-needs-it books!

And by the way again, that’s Rudi trying to figure out where he wants to be with all of those books suddenly in his way.  Millie is firmly settled in on the chaise behind me.

Price:  Varies widely by the type and title.  Some are as little as $1.00 for the paperbacks, others are considerably more.

Condition:  Many are in excellent, like-new condition. Others have clearly been well-used.

Hundreds of Science Fiction & Fantasy!

In the past week, I’ve added a good 4,000-5,000 books to our total inventory, including a lot of science fiction and fantasy.  I’m not sure exactly how many we now have, as I haven’t yet begun to unpack the boxes I picked up yesterday, that seem to be filled with SF hardcovers!

By the way, those shelves are two layers deep… they are FILLED with books!

I’m actually pretty bummed because if I just had the time, I’d read through the entire selection – every freaking SF book we have!  (But one must work and make a living….)

Price: Most of our science fiction and fantasy books are $1.00 for soft covers and $2.00 for hardcovers; buy 3 get 1 free.

Condition: Varies widely.  Many are in perfect, like-new shape.  Others… not so much.

SOLD! Religious & Spiritual Books of All Kinds – Close to 500 Volumes, Buy All for Just $300!

As mentioned on another post, in the past week, I’ve added a good 4,000-5,000 books to our inventory.  All told, there were at least 200 boxes of books that got dragged into the shop, piled in every available corner and free space. Whew!

We already had quite a few religious and spiritual books, but today I probably added another 75-100 to the collection.   I’d love to sell a few of these; right now close to half of them are stacked up on the floor in front of the bookcases… I just don’t have room for them all!

At some point, I’ll try to get a few of the actual titles and authors listed on here but doubt that will be very soon… there’s soooo much work to do!  (Sorry!)

Updated, 11/03/18:  I spent close to an hour today clearing an extra 6-shelf bookcase to put all the religious and religious-spiritual books on… but there are still a lot stacked up on the floor!  We have a huge collection that probably is close to 500 volumes!

Price:  Most of our religious and spiritual books are $1.00 for softcover and $2.00 for hardcovers; buy 3, get one free.

There are a few that are a bit pricier; for example, the Dale Evans Rogers book shown in the photo below, is $15.00.  (That’s less expensive than it is on Amazon!)

Update, 11/03/18:  If individually priced, the value of all these books based on what they’re selling for on Amazon (not the cover price), is likely around a couple of thousand dollars.  You can buy this entire inventory for just $300… they really don’t sell well at our shop, and I need the space.

Condition:  Most are in excellent shape, although some are very old and the bindings are failing.

We Now Have at Least 14,000 Books in Our Inventory…

… and the shop is kind of a wreck.  (These photos don’t show the seriously high stacks of boxes and boxes and boxes of books to be unpacked.)


In the past week, I’ve added a good 4,000-5,000 books to the Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps inventory, with two trips to Belfast (thanks to my friend Greg for the help on one of those trips – where we picked up about 2/3 of the books!), and a final trip yesterday to New Sharon (thanks to my friend Carla for coming along for the ride on that one and helping load the Jeep… I even got two more small dog crates for free for my friend Kaili’s rescue efforts!).

All told, there were at least 200 boxes of books that got dragged into the shop, piled in every available corner and free space. Whew!

Today I spent 5 hours unpacking about 60 of those boxes.

So far, 10 boxes are contemporary fiction, both hard cover and paperback. Those will have to be sold off really really cheap, since I don’t have room for them – and there are about 35 or so boxes of the same stuff sitting in my garage.

The science fiction collection has expanded considerably… man, if I just had the time, I’d read through the entire selection of close to 600 titles! (That includes quite a few of the boxes of hardcover SF that I picked up yesterday… YES!)

The mental health, social work, cultural and spirituality section has already doubled… and who knows what else is in the 150 boxes still to be unpacked!

American and world history, military and political science books… well, there are 1200 or so of those. I keep finding titles and saying (out loud), “Oh Johnny, you would LOVE this!

There’s so much more…

Anyway… I feel like a kid at Christmas.

Now I just have to sell these suckers.  (Remember, all sales benefit The Grief Warrior Project!)

SOLD! Mid Century Modern Hassock with Storage

I just love this MCM hassock; it reminds me so much of the furniture in both sets of grandparents’ homes when I was growing up.  If I didn’t already have a large house crammed full of too much “stuff” (just ask anyone), I’d buy this one off the business, as well!

Condition:  Excellent.  Some minor dings or discolorations, but as to be expected for an item that must be a good 60 years old!

5 Midnight Blue Moondance Prom ’95 Goblets

Did you go to the 1995 Moondance Prom?  Do you know anything about it?  I haven’t a clue and would love more information.  I suspect it was in Lewiston or Auburn since that’s where these goblets in perfect condition came from.

Price:  $12.50 for all 5, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax.

Condition:  Excellent!

Location: Undercover Antique Mall, Route 26 in Oxford ME.  We’re booth #56.

Just enter 9 Park Street, Lewiston into your GPS and park in the nearest available spot.  Our entrance is through the door at the end of the building on the right hand side.  You’ll see signs in the windows (“Retail Store” and “Heritage Collectibles” and “Antiques” as well as others; you’ll also see my silver Jeep Liberty parked nearby.
