SOLD! Two Nice Solid Wood Side Tables or Occasional Stands, Probably Mid Century

Look at the nice detail on these two wood stands!

Here are a couple of sturdy small side stands with multiple uses. They’d be great as plant stands, or next to your sofa to hold a beverage or a few slices of pizza while taking a few minutes away from it all.

Because of their size, they can be moved around and easily placed wherever you need them, or even put away when not in use.

Because they’re likely mid century, the bidding went surprisingly high for these at a recent auction, so there’s no wiggle room in the price given below.

Condition: They do have dings and blemishes as shown in the photos, but they are solid and very usable, and in overall good condition. Refinished, they’d be stunning!

Dimensions: About 19″ high by 22.5″ wide on all sides.

Antique Wicker Sewing Basket Stand, 1930s Era (?)

This is a great little wicker sewing or knitting stand, with both upper and lower storage. Apparently the natural wicker color has been painted over in white, although not completely on the inside. But it’s nice and clean!

Condition: A very nice antique sewing basket. The wicker is all good, I’ve noted no. breaks. The handle moves easily and is unbroken and legs are all good.

Dimensions: It measures about 27″ high x 14″ wide by 12″ deep.

Sold! Stunning Vintage Swan Mirror by Rain Tree Carvings of Lancaster Pennsylvania

This is a stunning, signed, hand-carved framed mirror dated 1987. The artisans at the company, Rain Tree Carvings out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, are – according to their Facebook page – very active in the craft of wood carving, and present workshops on their favorite topic as the opportunities present themselves.

This piece is just beautiful, and like their other work, is one of a kind – simply by virtue of having been hand made. In fact, I’ve only been able to find another like it on-line – and that one was created 3 years earlier in 1984. (That one is for sale on eBay for $175.00.)

The piece is signed and dated on the back, as you can see from the photos. (Please excuse the reflections in the mirror; clearly I should have made certain there was nothing on the opposing wall to detract from the beauty of the piece.)

Condition: Very good. There is a section of the swan’s tail that’s been damaged, and is reflected in the price reduction (from $94 to $70). It’s not noticeable unless you’re looking for it; I didn’t see it at first.

Dimensions: 27″ high x 17″ wide by 2 1/2″ deep

Price: $70.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $5.17, for a total of $99.17.

8 Vintage/Antique Booklets on Making Doilies (from the 50s & 60s)

I have a great deal of respect for anyone who has the skill – and patience – to create the beautiful doilies and other items demonstrated in this booklets. It’s truly a skill set that seems lost to most of us nowadays.

It’s also quite amazing to see that each of these booklets was only 29c back in the late 50s/early 60s (the “newest” one in the lot was 35c!).

I checked the prices on Amazon for most of these. They now go for anywhere between $3.00 to $15.00 each with an average price of about $5.00, plus shipping. We’re selling the entire lot for $24.00, which seems like a good deal

Planning a Party? Preparing for Halloween? Surely You Need 540 Treat Bags!

Sometimes we end up with the strangest additions to our inventory!

Here’s a lot of 27 packages of large “treat sacks”, all in new, unused, unopened condition. Each package contains 20 treat bags with twist ties, for a total of 540 treat bags in all!

There are 8 packages of solid black, 7 packages of solid green, 4 packages of solid red, 2 packages of solid orange and 5 packages of Barbie-themed bags. All were produced by Hallmark Cards, and apparently had original prices between about $2.50-$3.00 per package. I don’t know what these would cost nowadays, but our price seems very reasonable!

Condition: Excellent. New, unopened.

Dimensions: The bags are about 11 1/2″ tall.

Price: $20.00. Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.10, for a total of $21.10. (That’s less than 4c per bag!)
