We just obtained this great little desk (or vanity) set via an on-line auction presented by an estate management company we know well and trust, and once again, we were right to trust the company (we’ve learned that with some auction companies that trust is not such a good idea).

Condition:  The desk is in good solid condition with no major flaws, although there are some minor blemishes.  The vanity chair is wicked cute, but the seat has some cracks that go all the way through, although it’s still usable.  For this reason, we’ve reduced the price of the set from $150.00 to $125.00.

Dimensions:
Desk, wood – painted white:  43.25″ wide x 16.5″ d x 30″ tall.
Lamp, metal: approximately 27″ tall.
Chair, vintage metal: approximately 34″ h x 14.5″ x 14.5″.

FIRM Price:  Just $125.00 for all three pieces! Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $6.88 for a total of $131.88.

SOLD! CHEAP! Small Comfy Chair with Brushed Velvet Fabric and a Leg That Needs Repair

This is one of those auction purchases made without completely inspecting the item before bidding.  While there’s nothing seriously wrong with this chair, it does have some flaws that – to me, anyway – reduce its value more than I’m thrilled with.  So as they say, my loss is your gain!

Even with its flaws, I could certainly get a better price than I’m asking for, but it’s taking up room I need for other items.  So let’s move it on out!

Condition:  It’s a pretty comfortable chair with two flaws – one structural and the other, cosmetic.

Structural:  The right front leg (facing the chair) has split and needs to be re-glued and immobilized until that glue has firmly dried.

Cosmetic: The fabric is that brushed velvet stuff that – due to the greyish color of the chair – seems to look somewhat grubby in places, unless you smooth the fabric in the right direction.  It, of course, doesn’t stay in that “right” direction!

Dimensions: This is not a large chair.  It’s about 18 inches to the top of the seat by 26 inches at its widest.  It’s about 19 inches deep by about 34 inches high to the top of the back.  

Price:  Just $25.00! Plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.38 for a total of $26.38.

SOLD! Antique Puppy Dog Toy – Appears to Be Cloth Over Paper Mache

This sweet old guy is just adorable (just look at that face!).  We’ve had him for a while, although I haven’t posted him before now as I haven’t had much luck in trying to find out anything about him.  So he’s sat patiently, watching me work, just like my real dogs do.

By the way, I named him “Spot”, of course. 

Condition:  He’s in very good shape for his age, with all parts intact and no rips, tears or holes.  Although apparently intended as a toy at least half a century or more ago, I wouldn’t let a child play with him now at his age.  He’s best loved safely on a shelf somewhere. 

Dimensions:  About 6″ high by 9″ long.

SOLD! Bird Cages: We Have Several. Here’s One of the Larger Cages. Use for Birds, or Decorate with Twinkle Lights & a Plant!

We recently picked up 5 birdcages (3 small and 2 larger ones). And we already had a small vintage cage that’s been in storage for a bit. To avoid confusion, I’ll be listing them singly. However, if you’re interested in 3 or more, we can certainly accommodate you with a “bulk rate” price.

The 5 cages all came from the same home, and appear to be well taken care of.

If you don’t have birds, you may want to consider using one or more of them for decoration or a magical ambiance… I have a 5 1/2 foot cage in the waiting room at work – it’s been decorated with twinkle lights, crystals and has a spider plant growing inside… I love it!

This is a basic rectangular cage that’s in really good shape.

Expand your birds’ environment, get more birds, or be let your artsy side shine with twinkle lights and plants. Just think of what you can do!

Switchplates: White with Baskets, a Loon, Bluebirds, and Some Nice Plain Black Ones

Here’s another of those not-really-in-our-bailiwick sets of items that we ended up with… ten metal switchplates!

There are 3 white ones each with a basket design on them (2 singles and a double), a loon (double), a bluebird (single) and 5 solid black (4 singles and a double). I actually like the black ones; they’re much better than plain old white!

Condition:  New; never used.  I suspect they’re several years old as the prices on the tags are pretty outdated, but they haven’t been opened or used.

Dimensions:  I didn’t measure because they are standard switchplate sizes.

Price:  All ten for $28.00 plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $1.54 for a total of $29.54.

Calling Big Cat Lovers! Check Out Our Leopard Pedestal and Tray!

Oh wow… I really, really, REALLY love this set! If only I had even a smidge more room…..

The pedestal is made of some kind of lightweight material with a different animal depicted on each of its four sides – as well as on the top surface – in striking full color. Leopard is the predominant design.

The platter – which has a wire hanger – is of the same leopard design.

The two are startlingly bright and beautiful. They just draw your eyes to the magnificence of the animals displayed.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find any information on who the maker or designer might be.

Condition:  Excellent.  I couldn’t find a blemish or flaw.  Note: These are intended to be displayed, not used.  I don’t think the platter would hold up over time to carrying things around, and I doubt the pedestal would survive a plant that was overwatered.

This set is to be loved for its beauty, not for any functionality.

Dimensions:  The pedestal is 30″ high by 10″ square.  It’s hollow.  The platter is 21 3/4″ long by 14″ wide.  The handles on each end rise 2 1/4″ above the surface.

Price:  $45.00, plus 5.5% Maine State Sales Tax of $2.48 for a total of $47.48.

Our guy came out of a high end home, and appears to have never been used. He’s in perfect condition!
