This is an update of a previous post… we’re excited because we already have customers asking when we’ll be opening the Heritage Collectibles Gallery!
Here are the specifics!
Beginning Friday, March 5, the Heritage Collectibles Gallery will be open by appointment on the first Friday of each month from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. And beginning Monday, March 8, we’ll be open every Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Other times may be available, so just ask!
Appointments will generally start on the half hour (e.g. 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30), allowing you at least a full half hour to poke through our inventory, most of which will be contained in one 200 square foot room, as well as along the corridors in my office suite.
What? In your office suite?
Yup… the Gallery is taking over a conference room at my primary business, Heritage Health Services. (I provide office management services for mental health therapists.)
That’s why it’s by appointment. As you can see from the photos below, the inventory has totally taken over my business suite – I don’t even have room for the employees I plan to hire!
So I decided to just dedicate a large space (my conference room) where customers who like “hands on” shopping, rather than just via a website, can look and touch and enjoy some quiet browsing.
Because it’s located in my professional office suite, in a professional office building, the Gallery can’t be open to the public to just walk in. (And for that reason, I’m not publicizing the location.) But it can be open for limited hours, with limited customers and by appointment.
We will, of course, follow Covid 19 protocols.
For those who are new to Heritage Collectibles, here’s some background:
Several years ago, my late husband John and I had a bricks & mortar shop that we just loved, even though we were both working full-time jobs in addition to managing the store. It was supposed to be his retirement gig; something he could do that would use his love of research, and books, and old things (such as his wife – me!).
After he tragically died in October of 2016, I closed the shop… I just didn’t have the heart for it any more.
Slowly, oh so slowly, the years have gone by, and I’ve found my love for this business again, and re-opened in earnest this past fall, although it’s been on-line only, with local pick-up available.
In the meantime, I have a busy, time-time consuming, virtual office management business, and this office suite in downtown Lewiston. I have intended to expand the business and hire staff (I do have the office space for it) but instead have ended up using those offices to store inventory that’s been posted on this website (there’s a whole lot more inventory in storage at my house, primarily 10,000 or more books of all genres).
And a friend has been using what should be my conference room to run his eBay business.
However, my friend is moving into bigger digs, and I’ll be moving my inventory into that conference room. This will allow me to do two things: expand my office management business, and allow my customers to see our inventory (and I’ll keep repeating – by appointment only!)
I’m looking forward to a chance to display our “stuff” – and perhaps even do on-line auctions on Facebook or other media! (And although I’m sorry to see my friend go, I’m thrilled that the business he and his wife are running is doing so well!)
