Attention: Due to Jackasses, There Will Be NO More Curb Alerts Behind Heritage Collectibles

With every curb alert, I post the following:

Please be respectful and don’t make a mess in the alley or in front of the shop.  My landlord parks there and he’s been really really good to us, but he doesn’t like to see a mess – and who can blame him?  Thank you!

Believe me, we greatly appreciate everyone who is respectful, and all who have helped us continue to give away thousands of dollars worth of free stuff every year.

This past weekend, though.  I was disgusted by some jerk and posted the following:

And to the person who left the bucket filled with cigarette butts and empty “nips” bottles… gee, thanks.  I give free stuff and you leave trash.  Really classy.

Well I’m sure no one reading this will believe it, but while I was working at the shop on Sunday afternoon, some jackass decided he (or she) wanted the metal bucket… so dumped all of those nasty disgusting cigarette butts and other crap (including some kind of liquid) into the box of remaining free items.

I had to throw away everything that was left.

That’s it.  I’m done.  I’ve cleaned up too many half-filled coffee cups, pieces of trash and so forth from our free items.  I’m not going to do it any more.  From now on, everything’s going to Goodwill.

The jackasses spoiled it for everyone else.  I’m sorry.

NOTE: Now that we’ve downsized at our main location, our new entrance is at the back of the building (use the rear entrance in back of 189 Main Street, off the Park Street side).  You’ll see some signs in the windows saying “Heritage Collectibles”, “Retail Shop” and “Welcome”!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us for the past three years!

In memory of my beloved husband John K Snyder… 20 Sept 1956 – 21 Oct 2016.
He loved our shops, especially the section we called Heritage Books, Maps & Ephemera – that was his baby.

He loved me like crazy, and oh how I loved him.

Follow our blog at, in honor of my husband, and all others who have been lost to internal demons that in the end, overwhelmed them.

All of the profits after expenses from Heritage Collectibles, Books & Maps will go to help fund The (Grief) Warrior Project, a suicide prevention drop-in and counseling center in the process of being developed.

[Please Note: The (Grief) Warrior Project is in no way intended to be reflective of, or piggy back off, Wounded Warriors which serves those military personnel wounded after September 11, 20o1.  Like too many others, John was a warrior long before then.]
